The IRA sprints are 900+ hp and 1400lbs. Takes a big set to drive one.

BTW, if you do go check them out, watch the front wheels when the cars are at low speed, before the start of race or under caution. Watch how much the front wheels flop around.

It's going to a grand jury! That would never happen if there was no evidence at all, they would just say not enough or no evidence to support charges. The fact it's gone to a grand jury says there is something there. They have an enhanced video tape as part of the evidence. Time will tell.

OR

The DA is too Chicken S**t to make the call on his own and let it go to the Grand Jury.

Too high profile of a case to have it land just on his shoulders.

It would be an easy call if there was no evidence at all, there must be something for them to present it to a grand jury IMO. I'd like to see this "enhanced video" they were able to come up with.

I am sure they see something or may have something, but doubt they can convict him for anything. However I think time will tell. Just my opinion: I think it was a scare that went bad unintentional with deadly consequences. I, myself would feel terrible if while racing killed someone, however if I could with a clean conscience say I did not see that person or there was nothing I could do to prevent the accident I think I would be able to get over it and continue to race, if I was going to give someone a scare and contacted them and killed them. Pretty sure it would haunt me till death Tony has not looked good since physically just looks beat down which makes me think its haunting him

A scare that went bad would be grounds for involuntary manslaughter.

consider this...if instead a hitting him with his race car he simply cold conked him or whooped him with a "switch"...his career would be already be sqwashed by the controlling media in this country.

Ok, so I guess I missed this thread when it originally started. Every single opinion on this page is speculation (including mine) but here goes. Most are claiming Tony's temper as the primary argument as to why this is being considered as incidental (or at least he was trying to scare the young man). If it had been any other NASCAR driver aside from maybe either of the Busch brothers, we would not even be having this discussion. In my opinion, Tony's passion for racing is often times mistaken as a bad temper. You will not find another driver in the sport that gets out and goes racing as much as Tony (well, before this incident of course). You would also not find another driver that dedicates as much time and money into the SAFETY of the sport as Tony does. Many, many, many of the safety innovations on the EXACT SAME CAR he was driving that night are a DIRECT result of Tony's dedication and passion for that specific series he was racing in that tragic night. Tony has a temper, yes. But it comes as a result of having a passion for racing and should in no way be misconstrued as even a remote possibility that he would ever want to harm one of his fellow racers. My two cents, I will stay out of the rest of this discussion and let the chips fall as they may.
