I wasn't even gonna respond to all the B's in here but to think that this guy is gonna keep a trail system going is laughable. Close the thread. Nothing good is coming from this chit show...

I will preach to you because you can never prove me wrong with data based evidence.

I cant argue the value of a college degree today on paper. But data based evidence wont cut it with real life experience in 2019.

Come on guys, really? Gonna let this be a "bee in the bonnet"!?? We've seen this action before, it's older than all of us combined. Simple is as simple does???:indecisiveness::cool::cool:-Mezz

I tried to stay in the rules guys but gloves are coming off.

Say it with me folks; THE BEST WAY TO GET AHEAD IS WITH A COLLEGE EDUCATION!!!

That is statistically proven fact, whether you like it or not. No, I will not do your homework for you because you obviously can't do it on your own.

I come from a long line of tradesman and farmers. Simply stated, people with Bachelor's degrees earn more money than those without. Do the math.
But I keep having the same conversation with knuckle draggers like you. Apparently 2 + 2 does not equal 4 if you hang your *** far enough off the porch.

You will get old and die, think about what you leave the rest of us. Have a conscious. I will preach to you because you can never prove me wrong with data based evidence.

I did choose to insult baby boomers because you left my generation a GIANT mess to clean up. I will continue to insult baby boomers until some of you condemn the asinine among you that make idiotic comments like the one above. As I see in media coverage every damn day, none of you seem unwilling to insult my generation, and I think you should be held to the same standard.

Smells like my avocado toast is burning, better go check on it.

P.S. renegade, I am an actual Tool and Die maker, I am tradesman, sorry I invaded your SAFE SPACE.

I appreciate all your assumptions about me. At 44 I must be the youngest baby boomer in the country. And as a graduate of the University of Wisconsin system (I don't know if this will change the location of my knuckles or not), I can tell you college does not equal success. Yes, the right degree can help you tremendously, but the wrong one will do the opposite. Those statistics you are so proud of do not include the other half of college freshman who don't make it through and leave school 20,000 grand in debt or more and no way to earn enough money to repay it in a reasonable amount of time. So no, college isn't the answer for all, especially with the liberal bs they tend to drill into your head while you are there. Honestly, the most sucessful people I know monetarily speaking, are not successful because of a degree from a university. Thats what makes this country great! And the generations before me are the ones to thank. I see no mess here, but maybe I didn't pay enough attention in college. Enjoy the toast!

I thought the young man stated his case in his original post quite well and very respectfully
We may not agree with all of his assertions but he is entitled to his opinions as are we, but
Jumping all over him because we don't agree with him isn't right either. Reducing discussion
to name calling etc sounds more like the tactics of the Trump hating liberals and I doubt many of you fall into that group.LOL

I'm humming a song in my mind with a gene autry or hank Williams sound and it goes like this,
git along little doggies, git along
git along little doggies, git along...
git along little doggies, fit along little doggies...
git along little doggies...git along

now "can't we all just get along"
quoted by Rodney king

I am glad to hear that...we (my group of friends) all take annual trip snowmobiling, and we go to Michigan alot...but sometimes we just stay here in Wisconsin...and we always treat the bartenders and servers well...but you wouldn't believe how entitled and special some people think they are...its sad...I wondered why the heck do I volunteer my time marking, and brushing trails, and marking lakes...only to be told by some snob from the city while I'm slinging drinks..that "we'd die with out them and their money"...its a slap in the face, and I wonder why do I volunteer my time to make trails better for this asshat? It really gets old, and it goes on more than you think.

Attak, I am not the asshat your looking for!
I have been on the trail with many an asshat. Another thing my grandma told me, "people who are mean to the waitstaff, but nice to you, are not actually nice people."

**** I have been with guys from N. IL who said straight to a bartenders face that they would be nothing without the IL tourism. I wanted to punch the dude, cause the lifeblood of those bars are the locals that prop up a stool day in and day out.

Some of my best snowmobile memories come from popping into a little bar I've never been to, and sampling the local flavor. I love hearing peoples' stories, and I take those stories home and tell em' to anybody who will listen

All I am saying, is give us a chance to help. We can't do it on weekdays; **** I have enough trouble getting out of work on Saturdays and I'm salary! I do volunteer every chance I get, but its not easy.

Don't complain about a lack of participation when it is made so hard for the everyday working guy to participate. I want to help, others like me want to help. Get it together to save the sport. Be inclusive and most importantly, be fun!

Why is it so hard to be fun? Why is it so hard to listen to someone who loves your sport but doesn't feel the same way you do?

Like I said before, I'm not going anywhere, but others might.

I'm trying really hard not to break the forum rules here folks! As far as the science/climate change stuff goes, a wise boomer (my Grandma) once told me "you can't beat a man at his own game." I try to live by that advice every day.

I could go on about the causes and effects of climate change for days, but that's not what this conversation was about. Its about losing the businesses that we support with our hard earned cash.

You don't get to preach about climate change consensus, and then end the conversation before others can respond to it because "you want to protect your account". If that were the case, you never would have brought it up in the first place. Seriously, the idea that human induced climate change is responsible for the walleye decline is utterly ridiculous and not even remotely supported by any science.

A) There is no consensus, and you have been lied to by your teachers and the mainstream media.

B) Science does not work on consensus, and if you think it does, you need to learn more about the scientific method.

"It is a blatant lie put forth in the media that makes it seem there is only a fringe of scientists who don’t buy into anthropogenic global warming.” - Atmospheric Scientist Stanley B. Goldenberg of the Hurricane Research Division of NOAA.

“The cause of these global changes is fundamentally due to the Sun and its effect on the Earth as it moves about in its orbit. Not from man-made activities.” - Retired NASA Atmospheric Scientist Dr. William W. Vaughan

“Temperature measurements show that the [climate model-predicted mid-troposphere] hot zone is non-existent. This is more than sufficient to invalidate global climate models and projections made with them!”- UN IPCC Scientist Dr. Steven M. Japar, a PhD atmospheric chemist who was part of Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) Second (1995) and Third (2001) Assessment Reports, and has authored 83 peer-reviewed publications and in the areas of climate change, atmospheric chemistry, air pollutions and vehicle emissions.

“I am appalled at the state of discord in the field of climate science…There is no observational evidence that the addition of anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions have caused any temperature perturbations in the atmosphere.” - Award-winning atmospheric scientist Dr. George T. Wolff, former member of the EPA’s Science Advisory Board, served on a committee of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and authored more than 90 peer-reviewed studies.

“The recent ‘panic’ to control GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions and billions of dollars being dedicated for the task has me deeply concerned that US, and other countries are spending precious global funds to stop global warming, when it is primarily being driven by natural forcing mechanisms.”
- Climatologist and Paloeclimate researcher Dr. Diane Douglas

"My own belief concerning anthropogenic climate change is that the models do not realistically simulate the climate system because there are many very important sub-grid scale processes that the models either replicate poorly or completely omit. Furthermore, some scientists have manipulated the observed data to justify their model results. In doing so, they neither explain what they have modified in the observations, nor explain how they did it. They have resisted making their work transparent so that it can be replicated independently by other scientists. This is clearly contrary to how science should be done. Thus there is no rational justification for using climate model forecasts to determine public policy."

-Dr. John S. Theon, Retired senior NASA atmospheric scientist

Warming fears are the “worst scientific scandal in history…When people come to know what the truth is, they will feel deceived by science and scientists.” - former UN IPCC Japanese Scientist Dr. Kiminori Itoh, an award-winning PhD environmental physical chemist.

Damage - shame on you for bringing facts to the table. Tsk tsk. However there is only one of you and the mainstream media has too much time and money invested to let up now. The brainwashing will continue. Regarding fish populations - up here on Lake Of The Woods the walleye population is healthy. 30 years ago it wasn't. The Ontario Indian tribes used to be allowed to NET huge numbers of fish year round. Even in the winter they would chainsaw out big chunks of ice in main channels and use their nets. 30 years ago we locals used to refer to LOW as the 'dead sea' because it was nearly impossible to catch a walleye. Then the US and Canada got together and put some limitations on where and when the Indians were allowed to net. Limits were adjusted also and to this day the limits are different on LOW than they are on the rest of the lakes in MN. In fact they are lowering the ice fishing limits again next year. But it is working. Nowadays a person can go out fishing on LOW any time of the year and do quite well. It is a success story and it took time but mutual cooperation between the US, MN DNR and the powers that be in Ontario made it happen. Hopefully some lessons can be learned that could translate in to success in Wisc and other places.

For all of you proponents of the trades, what happens when you get older, are physically unable to do your duties, get injured, or develop limitations? Then you would probably be wishing you had an education. Getting a college degree is the smartest thing anyone can do.

Don't make me pull this car over!

"Hijacked" isn't a big enough word for this thread. What started out as the well being of the restaurant and bar business in the north woods morphed into Climate Change/Global Warming, to College Education, Trail Maintenance, and Club Members that are too old, Did I miss anything? Cripes Sakes, this is how the Civil War started when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor.

Well, at least it's entertaining on an otherwise gloomy, rainy day in January. Carry on!!

Walleye naturally reproduce in Northern WI lakes as well as southern Wi lake and rivers. Tribes spear walleye during the spawn while no one else can fish because it is spawning time. Climate change has nothing to do with the walleye decline and I’m very surprised it was even suggested. Absolutely nothing to support such a claim. Walleyes are killed before they can reproduce have all but destroyed populations where spearing is allowed. Where tribes can’t spear south of northern Wi the walleye numbers are greater. Hmmmm I wonder why? Lol

We were in Minocqua this fall for fall colors. Went to go out for dinner was surprised some of the places that were closed up. Had to settle for our 3rd choice.
Did Red Steer ever reopen?? Know they were looking for new location.

Ldf 180...you seem to forget..that the bars, and restaurants run the snowmobile clubs (the business clubs)...do you think we are going to close our bars, or restaurants on Saturday or Sunday to accommodate out of towners who want to volunteer?? No...you will see that most bars restaurants are closed Monday and Tuesday...this is why our meetings are during the week, and we brush and mark on those days...we have to do this stuff when its convenient for most of the people who do the work...its not like we have unlimited people up here, and frankly most of us are old guys, that have been doing this for a long time...I froze my *** off with 8 other guys brushing a swamp last winter so our new piston bully could go through that area and groom, it was 8 above with a windchill was below zero...but us old guys got the job done...weekend work days wont work, unless you want to pull 3 groomer drivers off their duties grooming trails on the weekend...all to accommodate your work schedule?? So you can volunteer?? Really? Dont be so brash.

College grad millennial checking in

I agree with most of what LDF180 is saying. I'm not getting into climate change at all.

The main thing I agree with is do clean-ups and meetings on Saturdays. I joined a club in the Northwoods, wasn't able to make any of the weekday meeting (working 2 jobs to pay off student loans) Ended up joining a club an hour south of Green Bay, helped out several times for a club that hasn't opened trails in 4+ years.

IMO snowmobiling is a dying sport. Out of all my friends I ride with, I'm the youngest by 20 years. I used to ride with friends my age, but they all quit they started schooling and buying houses.

I'm not going to look up stats and figures, it is what it is. Anyone can argue any side of anything with the internet.

Cool down coming Tuesday night!! Think SNOW
