Looks like the storm track is not in our favor, heard another storm for the weekend same area.
I’m in the 7-11 range for tomorrow, and yes similar track for this weekend. Such a shame, the northwoods needs this snow… but it might hit the eastern UP pretty good

NO, we do NOT need this snow yet. After the COLD from next week, maybe. I know EVERYBODY wants to ride, but we are so close to having SAFE lakes and swamps. Bring on that sub zero stuff, then start dancing.

Just an FYI....clubs do not open trails in Wisconsin....the counties do ...meaning all the club trails in a specific county must be inspected, and ok'd to open...if one club in county isn't ready, then they will not open....most of the clubs in northern Wisconsin have already been inspected, and ok'd (Oneida and Vilas)...However...our ice is not safe at this point (see anywhere from 3 to 6 inches in the bays)...we need cold weather, which is coming...so maybe it's a blessing that the heavy snow is missing the Northwoods...we would still open trails if we had a big snowfall...but you'd have to stay off the lakes, and plan your routes accordingly ...we keep checking lakes for ice thickness...once we hit that magical 7 -10 inches (on average )..we start marking lakes...We are close...but not there yet....That being said..Even though we are not expecting much up north here today (Tomahawk area)...it's been snowing non stop since around 6 am...already a solid inch of accumulation and still coming down

Would be nice to pick up a couple more inches in your area and to the north, so all the clubs can get out and pan! Lot of the trails east of Crandon got panned yesterday, as did Presque Isle area. Sayner, and Hurley/Mercer area has done some of their trails as well.

Now that these counties are chopped up into zones, it's a collaborative decision after the zone reps talk amongst themselves which zone will open or stay closed...Down here in Rock Co we have 1 club that makes their own decisions regarding their system...The AWSC Director for Marquette county is a member here. If he see's these posts he might elaborate how they do it...There was a time long ago Adams County never closed no matter what...They opened on Dec 1st and closed March 31st...If you wanted to ride your sled on dirt, it was legal during that timeframe...

Thats how it is in MN. Many of the trails are ditch or public land in state forests. It can make some of the smaller snowfalls get destroyed quick since nobody waits for a call or post. But many other times it up to you to decide which has its benefits too.
