Just an FYI....clubs do not open trails in Wisconsin....the counties do ...meaning all the club trails in a specific county must be inspected, and ok'd to open...if one club in county isn't ready, then they will not open....most of the clubs in northern Wisconsin have already been inspected, and ok'd (Oneida and Vilas)...However...our ice is not safe at this point (see anywhere from 3 to 6 inches in the bays)...we need cold weather, which is coming...so maybe it's a blessing that the heavy snow is missing the Northwoods...we would still open trails if we had a big snowfall...but you'd have to stay off the lakes, and plan your routes accordingly ...we keep checking lakes for ice thickness...once we hit that magical 7 -10 inches (on average )..we start marking lakes...We are close...but not there yet....That being said..Even though we are not expecting much up north here today (Tomahawk area)...it's been snowing non stop since around 6 am...already a solid inch of accumulation and still coming down
