the way this reads is, if a good hearted sledder stops to pick up a couple beer cans on the trail in a clean up effort, and then gets hit by a totally sober sledder, it would be righteous to report that "alcohol was believed to be a contributing factor"???
Not on the trail but on a construction project, someone I know nearly lost his job for picking up beer can trash. John found a bunch of empty beer cans scattered on bridge construction grade one Monday AM. Tossed them in the back of the company truck (10 cent return) because he said his kids collected cans for spending money. Project engineer stopped by that day and as he was talking to inspector he questioned why he had a bunch of beer cans in the box of his company truck. He told him he picked them on the project etc. Boss told him to get rid of them right now. He got a letter of reprimand and a unpaid suspension because beer cans in the company truck gave a bad public impression. Some in the company wanted to fire him but they ended taking his word he was not drinking in a company vehicle. After that he said a policy came down, absolutely no empty or full alcoholic beverages or containers can be transportated in a company vehicle, punishment is termination.
