Two-Stage Snow Blowers

ARIENS-
I bought an 8hp in 1979 it still throws snow to my neighbors driveway. Just change oil and did the auger bearings once. Best $ I have ever spent on yard tools. She is a little rusty but all my neighbors expect me to do their drive way when the snow is too deep for their toy snowblowers.

Ah matman, Nothing more enjoyable than sending snow into the neighbors driveway. It's a great American pastime in my neighborhood. I have an 18 hp Wheel Horse that chucks snow into my neighbors yard 2 houses down. 42" wide path in a sweep. The chute is a little rusted to the right (if you know what I mean). Life is good! My life long dream is to be like the plow truck driver in the movie "Snow Day". Cuzz, just get her a shovel. lol

I sold my 30 year old Ariens ST270 in really nice shape on ebay last year for about what it cost. Still worked good, just a little tired in the wet heavy snow. It was only 2.7 HP. Then I got a new Ariens 9hp with elec start, head light et cetera for under $1,000 out the door at Russo's. My neighbors said what do you need that for in the Chicago area? I explained that there maybe only a few times a year that you need something that big. But when the plow blocks the end of your driveway and you have to shovel because your little single stage cant handle it you will see why. Also if they last 30 years with proper maintainence, I am way ahead of the game. I also would say that other than Ariens, Simplicity would be the way to go. I actually washed and waxed mine a few weeks ago...Over - LD

I have a 1969 Ariens Sno-Thro, 7hp two stage. Grandfather invested in it in 1969. Runs perfect. Only have to deal with shear pins and the muffler. Never drained the gas, just use SeaFoam in the final tank. Electric start.... starts ups real nice. Still throws the heavy stuff. Ariens all the way.

I have an Ariens also, an old one. I bought it used about 8 years ago. Always starts, I've never had a problem with it. Not sure how old it is, but it is all steel. LOL.
