Used sleds for sale

I have several sites I use to hunt for older Arctic ZR's. I don't remember seeing this many used sleds for sale at one time. There are 285 just on EBAY. A couple of Arctic only sites both have over 100. Lots of folks selling low mileage stuff and quitting. Many package deals with trailers and helmets and suits. This year's non-winter so far is taking its toll.

Not sure if 285 sleds being sold on ebay is bad. 4-5 years ago there use to be 600 sleds on ebay. And then came along craigslist. All we can do is hope for the best EH!

Haven't ridden our front line sleds in over three seasons. This weekend I noticed the trailer tires are even going flat. Just ain't feeling it anymore, but cant bring myself to sell them and seal the coffin shut.
However we do ride the vintage sleds around our property whenever there is snow. Nothing like a mid November ride around the farm with the grandkids, for some hot chocolate.:)

I put on over 2000 miles last year. Some of that (500, maybe 600) in central WI. Barron county, Chetek, Shell Lake.

Thats great to hear. But snow conditions have nothing to do with why I'm getting out of the sport.

And last years non winter.... Not good.

ya I really think 2 bad years i n a row (in the midwest) will weed out the guys who don't want to haul sleds and those sleds will prob have low miles and at a good price- bummer for some - opportunity for others

The sleds are out there it is the price some want to sell them. Low mile or whatever a 10 year old sled is a 10 year old sled.

Some people put out of sight price on there sleds. On Chicago craigs list there was a 06 Yamaha Rage for 5500 the sled is worth about 3200 with 20 in. of snow on the ground. These early 4 strokes had issues

I have been looking at ebay and craigslist for fun and I think the used market is over priced, especially the dealers. For a few more grand I can get a new sled with a good warranty. The better deal is a non-current new sled. Why buy a used sled from a dealer. (I bet they probably gave half the amount of their asking price for the trade-in.)

Hit the dealer today, Poo VES oil, $36 a gallon. Got 4. Anyways, $10,000-$12,000 per unit... . REALLY!?!
The sport will die fast at those prices. Really? Insane?? Rich man activity. Get me a 800 xc sp for $5000 and you got me. But $12,000 I think not. It all went south around 05-06. EPA and latest, greatest. I am almost out .

I've only had a couple new sleds, but non-current new seems to be the way to go. Got this fall a 2014 RMK 144 for $7700.

Those early 4 strokes had issues? Ummmm.....be more specific....which brand? No argument that the price is not realistic.

Sounds like me when it came to musky fishing and boating in general. Just lost the passion for it. Nothing wrong with that....it happens.

The early 4 stroke Yamahas had cam chain tensioner 05 to 08 3 cylinder. I had two of these 05 06 the wheels in the suspension were bad hard on belts. They were still good sleds if you got these item fixed.

YIKES! Gawd bless the internet for putting every sled problem, no matter how infrequent it happened, under the microscope.....after this post I am now doubting that any pooo 800's ever blew chunks!....LOL
Put 45,000 trouble free engine miles on 4 yamaha 3 cylinders so far
8 DN belts last forever on the Vectors, about 3000 miles on the nytros. My new Polaris is harder on idlers than my Yamahas ever were.....no one uses good bearings anymore.

exhaust donuts and front end bushings every 4-5000 miles though.

Clean trailing arm era sleds seem to hold onto there value once they hit the low to mid $2000 range. Just a by product of new sled prices i suppose.

I'm thinking new in season sled sales have ground to a halt as well as used stuff. Spring sales seemed to be going well but to lose half of December to El Nino with real warm temps has my head spinning to switch interest gears until January. Got to be some very good deals out there new & used. As far as riding this year seems laike a remote possiblity right now ....We need cold weather after the 15th to move this season forward freeze things up or snow won't help just be a mush bog out there. On the other hand get your scratcher order in we are going to need them for sure.lol
