I met Venturenorth, ndrev and Jim Andros for lunch at the log Cabin in Conover.....great to see the guys again!!...Ok real time at 3:30PM 12-22 condition report today as follows for Phelps & Conover. A lot of snow in the woods in Phelps trails 6e-6w groomed & coming together but has some big bumps so be prepared much improved from Monday's no groom. Tree down blocking 6e trail just before the shooting range so I cut a track on the north side so riders can get around it. This is a traditional wet spot but frozen hard but not groomed...no big deal just be prepared for it. Phelps Trail 17 the same with an overall Fair-Good rating as long as grooming is maintained. It is supposed to snow 2-4" Friday so will just will get better. Conover Trails 8-12-45 in mid season Good form fast, flat, groomed to the max lots of fun...easy to have your speed get away from you so keep that in mind I know I did looked down and was doing 80mph just gliding along...lol... One Conover signage problem PM Jim Andros he can tell you exactly the intersection ...50-50 choice & of course I chose the wrong fork but who cares I was riding but a bit late to lunch..lol... I had a ball out there and the guys said St Germain & Eagle River trails were all just as good as Conover. Hats off to those clubs they did a phenomenal grooming job. I had a ball and somehow rode 90 miles in a few hours and will back out Friday.:)

wow...great report and looks like that note earlier in the week resonated with the Phelps groomers. Although I'm sure others will disagree! Thanks for the honest and up to date reports...keep it up and happy riding.

I'm involved with snomo clubs up here but not every club and I move around club to club. To me this is no big deal and I don't feel I need to formally resign from any club just move on as I please. I'll help any club with trails if I can but they need to call me or email me to let me know what they need.

If you are waiting for the phone to ring, you are not very involved, but that's OK, do what you are comfortable with.

Exactly Clubs can't fix what hurts if they don't know. No one can contact each Club and 1 on 1 tell them this trail needs attention that tree is down over there so on and so forth. In many cases the next groomer thru fixes what is broken. When a groom condition continues for days or a week the public needs to know to make the most of their riding time. My view as a club member would be to correct problems if possible thank the person for the information. A side note is I'm working with local Phelps biz to put the barrels out on North Twin lake and they are rounding up the resources so a little encouragement can get the ball rolling.

Just not possible in my area too many clubs if a certain person that posted in this thread wants my help I would help but I'm not a member of his club so he knows my number... pretty simple.

So you are like a trail monitor? You don't actually fix the problem, you just let us know when we have a problem?

I volunteered to help put barrels on the lake the club doesn't do that. If that is not fixing and helping nothing I say will satisfy you. I don't ride with chain saw tied to my back and I don't know anyone that does. I do carry a hand saw to fix what I can where I ride. Going riding today prolly unplowed Frs with venturenorth because we want to clear away north. Always some hand cutting thru there and easier with 2 guys. If you want to help contact me.

give me a break, he simply stated the conditions of the trails he rides on. what your point? what is the point of this site if someone can't come on and state if a trail is mint or needs grooming?
many people on this site report poor trail conditions and I don't see them get repeatedly bashed like WD does. though GD says he's blocking his post's,,,lol good one guy. Keep up the hones posting WD.
some of you on this site are more immature than my 9 year old.
grow up.

ddhanna.......I know WD has done stuff for the clubs up there...so don't act like he hasn't. What have you done or DO?? I have brushed trails, marked lakes, and packed swamps for the past 25 years for 3 different clubs in my area, and even went up to Michigan and helped a buddy's club brush about 12 years ago.
Getting real tired of the pissy pants club members who get on their soap box everytime someone posts something they don't like....I don't think he was bashing the club...he simply pointed out what he saw...and guess what...sounds like they are doing something since his post.

Chill out my friend. Thought the "trail monitor" thing was funny, guess you didn't. Got no problem with a good trail report. I just don't think it is fair to criticize the work of volunteers unless you are ready to take on the job. It just doesn't do anything to better the sport and can damage volunteer morale.

BTW, this pissy pant club member volunteers between 200 to 400 hours per year, depending on circumstances. That just happens to be my comfort level. Some do more, some less. It's a personal decision that should be made without any pressure.

"blah...blah"?? sniff....sniff.... here's a tissue buddy

Clever. Did you come up with that all by yourself? Thats some quality gold right there. How do you find the time in between riding and critiquing someone else's trail work? I know, you've been active for 25 years. You've meationed it twice in this thread alone. I've been active twice as long. But here's the difference. You mentioned it twice as a badge of honor. I do the work cause it needs doing. While you're busy riding, complaining about bumpy trails and filling your depends. Hundreds of ''active'' members dont have a chance to ride. They're too busy cutting down trees that fell across the trail. They dont have the luxury of "cutting a track" around it and posting about it later.
Oh, and I'm not your buddy....
