Yeah, if the forecast is correct, it won’t Be good.
Yep...UGLY!!! You guys might open in Vilas...but Oneida won't...we need more ice, which I think we may have by the weekend...but we have No snow, and nothing coming (I meant in the long range forecast..we know about the clipper Thursday, but that's about it)....I highly doubt that Oneida opens by January 1st

Hate to be a Debbie downer but don’t look at a 10 day extended forecast… things look great the rest of this week once we get thru today, but after Xmas looks like 4-5 days of a repeat of today
Been watching the extended forecast and it’s all over the place. It’s been downgraded somewhat with only one really warm day of 44 degrees which in itself will take everything if it truly happens. I don’t believe the forecast until it happens.

Yeah, seems like the temps have dropped a smidge and less days showing rain, but any bit of snow the state receives today will be gone by end of next week. I think the UP in the LES belts will hold onto their base next week, and just need a little fresh to get back in action afterwards, but WI will once again be starting from ground zero.

and this clipper is kind of a bust...only an inch or so here in Tomahawk, and a large dry slot developing...so 1-3 at max for us here...sucks

Clippers never tend to overwhelm… I think some of the projected totals on the news are crazy. Every single forecast model shows 4-6” and they’re telling us 5-8 here…

I remember one supposed to be a fast moving 'Clipper' it was the very first time we were in Houghton. However the motel owner out witted the weather guys, and as he said, there was 30" on the ground when it was done. Seems that was more of LES, than a 'Clipper'?

what we need is a good ol' fashion pan handle hook to drop 12 inches of wet heavy snow.
We've been in the heavy band all day,, may end up with close to 8. Prolly gotten 5 inches already. 15 mile to the south of me they've gotten a dusting. This is Wash. Co.

I too was surprised when several weather sites called for 5-9" from a Clipper. Those are usually 1-4" events....

2, maybe 3” here near Appleton. Maybe another inch overnight? Well see. Overall a bust for what the news weatherman we’re saying we’d get, but like I said, every model run I ran online showed 4-6” so I’m not sure where their big #s were coming from. I don’t see us exceeding 4”, and honestly that may be a stretch.

Today is December 28th, just got back from the Chicago area at around 3pm. So nice to be back in the Northwoods, enjoyed our time with our daughter, her husband, and the cute little guy. We have about 1-2” of snow left, it’s a mess, lakes are all melted on top, still good ice underneath. Snow wise, it’s definitely a reset. Temps don’t start dropping until Tuesday but no snow in sight until Monday 1/6. Waiting game for sure, gotta keep the faith, right?

Yeah your not kidding Paul some areas are a complete reset. I still see some trails in the woods that are white. We are hoping to go ice skating later in the week once all the water on top freezes. Should make for some smooth ice hopefully. Yeah looks like maybe some lake snows north of us but who wants to go through a whole season with just small areas of trails open and everyone stuck in the same area. Looks like the cold will return Tuesday but now we a good old fashioned snow storm to come our way. Just imagine how good it could of been if all that rain could of been snow through the whole state. Most of the state would of been rideable. It rained our whole drive up last night.

Agree Hermie, I hear you on the ice skating. Just have to be patient I guess.

Sharpen them skates ! Should be epic!!!
I am thinking by Thursday the ice should be good to go. Trying to figure out what lakes I will skate. Ice should be smooth as glass. When mother nature gives you lemons gotta try to make lemonade. There are not too many winters you can skate the whole lake. Would I rather be on the trails, well yeah but going to take advantage of the lakes having no snow on them and put some miles on the CCM's
