Vilas Cty. reopen with big storm?

Does anyone have an idea if they would reopen Vilas cty., assuming they got the 10-15 inches forecasted between 3/23 & 3/24? Any possibility, or no way?

I badly need one last ride.

gates are closed and I seriously doubt they will open them back up..Just too much work to be done for them to re-open. Just my opinion.

Vilas I'am sure wont reopen, but no ordances that I can find says that you cant ride on them when they are closed!Besides there hundreds of lakes and swamps to ride besides the trails anyway in Vilas County !!

come on March Bleezard ! one more ride for a short season is great !! Lots of UP Michigan is closed cause of Eagles nesting !!

we have a cabin on Papoose lake, are you saying I can't ride in the UP or Vilas County if they get hit with the monster storm

Talked to the Gateway manager this morning. She called the Vilas County folks and they said they will NOT reopen the trails.

She also called re: UP trails and was told that they are open until 4/1 and may groom if the snow is good.

my cabin is there and those gates are locked everywhere.. they don't reopen them once the close the season.. but if you know the area you can get around and get to the up from around the area of the log cabin on 45

Fat Daddy ,come on up ,you can ride with me.everybody else is telling me I cant ride in vilas county. vilas trails are closed and will not reopen ! checked and there are no laws written that say you cant ride on them once they are closed.Boulder Junction is almost 90 % state owned lands .I use my GPS and a plat book and stay off private property! never had a problem in 46 yrs of riding !we have 100's of lakes and swamps to ride without touching a trail anyways!My UP Mich trail map has big warning !!!!!!!!! STAY OUT MARCH 1st ,Eagles are nesting so I ride in Wisconsin now !!

I thought you could ride a snowmboile down the Bill Nicholls Trail on July 15th if you wanted. Is that not correct?

This is only in the Ottawa National Forest and it says "snowmobiling is restricted to designated trails and unplowed roads within the shaded area after March 1st"...it meens no off trail riding

Ok so it sounds like I can ride depending if you get the big dump and where it falls either north our south. Keep me posted because of right now the stickers are still on and the trailer is loaded. Minneapolis has had about an inch of rain so far, its suppose to start snowing later tonight and go until 2:00 tomarrow.

Ubee its people like you and pirate that get the trails closed for everyone! What DON'T you understand about CLOSED I THINK IT MEANS NOT OPEN? Arse holes that think they can go where ever they want when ever they want cause the people to close trails on there land and the state to forbid use of the land by power toys. Why yes why do you think we don't have ATV trails? Because people don't stay on the trails or follow the rules. On the news tonight they said the trails are closed and even with the snow stay off. If you want to ride so DAM bad by your rules then buy 600 acres and ride around in big circles all you want. Otherwise please don't reck it for the rest of us that follow and respect the rules

Guys, I think if the gates are closed, it means the trails are closed. Don't play the "there's no law says I can't ride" card. Just use a little common courtesy and stay home, or ride on your own private property. Don't go out and take a chance of ruining it for the rest of us! Maybe you should contact the trail boss of the club that maintains the trails and see wht they say. I'm guessin' they'll tell ya "season is over, please visit next season".

I agree 100% closed means closed stay home. If you belong to a club and worked to put in trail you would know what it takes. Trails don't appear by themselves and one rider can lose it quickly for the rest of us. So please stay home. And wait like the rest of us for next year.

Ubee is a pretty reliable source of information on this board. I wouldn't go making harsh generalizations about him especially since Vilas county is his back yard. Can't the forest roads be ridden?
