Virus Predictions

I agree with what you said. Some will say the examples you use are by choice. Meaning snowmobiling, smoking, driving, etc are all by choice and the virus isn't. I'm not one of them but they will say it. I've said this before, if the country uses this fiasco as the new "standard" for responses to virus threats then we will have to go through this every year due to the annual flu. That cannot and should not happen. Our economy as well as the rest of the world's economy will not be able to handle this response annually...if ever again.

I think I asked this very question a couple weeks ago: What kind of precedent are we setting with this?

The issue here is not about flu or smoking or any other causes of death. The issue is that it is an EPIDEMIC. It is a new cause of death, untreatable at this time HAPPENING ALL AT ONCE!

Flu, car accidents, and smoking are not epidemics. This is!

Our health care system can handle the flu, some live, some die, but it is not an epidemic. It does not cause a disruption in the system. This is an EPIDEMIC that the world health care system cannot handle.

Please understand the difference! The flu happens, life goes on. This is an EPIDEMIC, widespread, immediate, so far untreatable, overwhelming to our health care system.

The flu is not a worldwide crap storm, this is

Have spent some time today looking over the latest data and trends.

It looks like we may have reached the apex of the new case curve here in the US, or are within 3-4 days of it. Countries like Japan, South Korea, Spain, Italy have all been dropping for days. The US saw it’s first drop since the rapid spread started. There may still be a uptick or two because of growing testing, but in reality the true number of new persons sick will be dropping during any uptick.

i predict the current restrictions will remain in place to the end of the month for the US as a whole. Then after that the gathering of somewhere between 15 and 25 people will be allowed as long as they are all wearing masks. Not long after that, most smaller businesses will be allowed to open. Larger ones too, as long as there are not more than the gathering limit. A week or two after that, bars and restaurants will be able to open to the public, but there could be a limit to how many can be in the building based on its size.

By mid-June, the feds will announce a vaccine or successful treatment, or both (I actually believe we have one or both right now, but is being kept under wraps because of the major problems it would cause because the supply is nowhere near the demand). By mid-June the supply will be able to meet the demand. Once we have a treatment or vaccine all will be back to the way it was before the virus came.

i also believe the feds might let state and or local governments change the dates of when the restrictions end- either earlier or later.

Time will tell!

What day you?

Let’s just concentrate on tomorrow’s forecast shall we! LOL

JK, hope your right.

Haha!

How about Sunday-Monday. Anyone hearing anything about a whopper-doozy storm for northern WI and the western 1/2 of the UP, possibly into the arrowhead? :)

Exactly my point.
He references anything whether medically proven or not,,,,, therefore if we did have a vaccine he wouldn't shut up about it.
That's why I don't see a vaccine on the horizon.

Watch his daily press conferences. He references drugs and vaccines being in the works every day. Or how he is pushing the FDA to speed up the process.

Sure hope things get better before summer. I have already heard of things like June dairy breakfasts and talk of cancelling fairs already. In the grand scheme of things these are not that important, but it would be nice to have a half way normal summer. Would be nice if my kids could go back to school for a few weeks since they really like their teachers.

I did see a possible "bomb cyclone" forecast for Northern Maine & Quebec! Maybe a 'Grenade Cyclone" for the Northwoods??

Today in the Northern Illinois area a journalist using transparency laws, forced Amita Health Care to release hospital case numbers they were being secretive about.
DuPage County is the 2nd most populous county in Illinois, 931,743 at last count with Cook County number one at 5,223,719.

The Covid patients being cared for in a few DuPage County Hospitals -

LaGrange Hospital - 17
Hinsdale Hospital - 11
Elmhurst Hospital - 54

These are all the article stated, but it released that in their Health Care System which has 19 hospitals in Northern Illinois with over 7000 physicians, the chain had a total of 220 coroavirus patients. These numbers encompass an area of more than 6,000,000 people. Harldy Epedemic, widespread, overwhelming numbers. My question is Illinois is reporting 15,000 cases, where are they? If you have an avg 220 patient cases at 19 hospitals in the most populous area of the state, you would need 1285 +/- hospitals to treat that amount. Illinois has 180 hospitals. I guess the other 161 are overwhelmed with the other 14,780 cases.

If doomsday criers and media continues with the doom and gloom, with deep sadness I wouldn't count on it, I hope everyone is ready fro what the end result will be.

17... 11 …. 54?? OMG!!! A family member of mine is a nurse in ICU and she also said things are very quiet, and another friend of mine works in xray and the other day they saw 7 patients...ALL DAY and today she found out hours may being cut, I understand things are different in large population centers but they are just for that reason. I keep hearing New your, New York, New York. I said it before the city population alone would be like cramming the entire state of Wi into Racine county.... of course cases would be high, don't need to be scientist. Got call from accountant stating that we could extend out our sales and payroll taxes 2 months if we wanted to. If businesses don't have the money now how are they going to 2 months from now with 2 months on top of it. This is not good and is definitely not worth the economic shut down Im sorry! ITS NOT!

Yes, I know several doctors in DuPage county area of Northern Illinois whose hours have been cut, pay has been cut, bonus put on hold, etc. There are ZERO scheduled surgeries, procedures, etc., which also means no income for the Hospital.
