Would love to see a beautiful picture, but that does not fit the bill.

Looks like it might still be good though. Did it punch through or not?

it did, it's STILL leaking antifreeze outta it. I heard a "knocking" noise when i was driving it when the stud went thru, i thought it was the engine and was crapping my pants but i only had a mile to go so i just kept riding, i now think it was this, it looks as if it was hit hundreds and hundreds of times by a stud

Been there, done that. You'll find that part at Haydays without a problem. But, in the winter if that happened a little JB Weld would hold up for a weekends riding. Those heat exchangers are a chore to replace.

this is the 2nd sled that this happened to this past winter, i got one heat exchanger welded up and plan to get this one welded too. I already have a big enough list at haydays, lol. 2 new belts, 1 pair of carbides, 1 pair of slides, 1 track, hopefully some new clutches, and anything else i find. luckily most of the list is for my dads sled so i dont have to pay for it obviously since the sled aint mine.

I should start charging my dad for labor on his sled lol. I've got 5 hours into the sled already (taking studs out of the old track takes forever, but with an impact wrench it goes quite nicely) I know if i didn't do any of this, it wouldn't be done till november. My dad FLIPPED out when i said since we had the trailer out to cut down an uprooted tree that almost fell on the sleds, that we should work on his sled. He wasn't happy, but me and my mom agreed that we should get it done, and we all know, mommy rules. I ended up doing everything except my dad helped me pull the driveshaft out because the cogs were pinched on the lugs of the track but that took a minute.

Here's some step by step pics that i posted on another site. It's a tool site and guys didn't think i used my tools much if i don't work on cars. I proved them wrong :)

Yup, a half ripped out stud will always tear into the front heat exchanger! I have poked a hole in 1 exchanger before I realized it was time to get bigger tracks and not use studs.

Studs, aka, TRAILER CHEWERS, are a waste. Hole digging sonofaguns, cost too much and will leave you unhappy sooner or later.

Pull the track back... flip the sled ...drain all explosive fluids.....vent the cooling system....have a certified tig weldor[spelling is right, as the weldor is the one doing the welding], and have him weld an extra plate for future pick attacs. About 100.00/150. labor and parts. This is easy welding for a pro, a little harder for a week end warrior! Yep, that it'll do it.

my dads buddy who welds together frames for race cars will be doing the welding to the heat exchanger and torque arm. He did the heat exchager already once. He has a tig, mig, arc, and plasma. He isn't certified though, he just never got into the welding field for a job because he really just didn't want to.

oh man....the last sled i had with studs was a 1985 YAMAMAHAMA V-MAX piece o crud....glad i got rid of studs forever and YAMAHAHAHAHHAHAHA's too....2 things that will scar you for life

LOSE THE STUDS BRO AND LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER

its like losing the steel belted tires for radials...everyone fought that for years until they realized.....OUT WITH THE OLD TECHNOLOGIES AND IN WITH THE NEW....some tights wads still hang though.....computers design the tread pattern now and they far out shine studs in all conditions IMO
