Just got back from Dodge and Fond Du Lac county Wisconsin. Excellent trails, lots of them , and plenty of snow. It's nice not riding the same trails !

If you complain about snowmobiling you are not a true snowmobiler. There is always something to think positive about. And for everyone that buys a new sled every year and complains, keep it 2 or 3 years and then sell. The sport can be enjoyed very much for a lot less than most think. When there are bad winters go buy a antique sled and ride. For bad snow conditions I use a 76 el tigre 4000. Think positive otherwise get out of the sport and save yourself a headache.

Exactly........ last year I put zero miles on my sleds (didn't even buy trail permits). After that I vowed to get back into vintage sleds, not as bad as I was before. But just get a nice fan cooled vintage sled with bogies to get my fix. I will never be without a sled, but than again I will never probably have a newer sled than my 04

I don't mind the complaints & people need to vent to feel better. Actually I think there is are 2 markets the $10K+ market for latest & greatest 150hp 2s or 4s sled that can bang, cruise trails & tear up the deep snow. The new market emerging is for twisty trail fan sleds with vintage low snow ability with cheap shocks, metal skis & a comfy seat at $3500 that run good with say 340 carbed engines & thrives in snirt. Now I would buy a new sled like that & could have used last year & this year. Again who knew? lol:)

It been tough, it really has. But if you want to do it enough you will find a way. There are a bunch of us guys from st louis mo that trailer 10 hours just to fire a sled up.
But we always find a way to do it every year. Trailering from chicago? Childs play! lol I drove 5 and half hours to madison a week ago, and it felt like a trip to the
grocery store! I hope things work out for ya. It is frustrating

yup I plan on riding all day Saturday down here (Wash. Co.) putting on 150 miles then bellying up the the bar to watch the pack kick some royal you know what. Mid 40's by next week and rain may just wreck the trials, at least in alot of spots. This will be the third time I've been out this year which is three more times than I had last year at this time and two more times than I had all season last year.

I am a snowmobiler, fields, woods, ditches, logging roads, hills, trails, it does not matter, if I am on a sled, I am happy. It is that simple. :D

I agree with Skylar. 39 miles last year, 290 so far this year. I hate not riding but look at it this way, sled will last one year longer. I don't buy very often and at today's prices, will probably not buy another. Saw a lot of older sleds out this past weekend and very few new sleds. Mines a 06 with about 4000 miles on it. Should last me for as long as my bod allows me to ride.

Cheers, think snow.

You know guys- I live dead center in WI, so if I had the luxury of a "normal" life, I and my wife would be out chasing snow every time we could. We LOVE trail riding. However, we have a 27 year old daughter who is disabled and needs 24/7 care. I'm just making this point to ask you to remember that not everyone can just jump in the truck and head to the snow whenever we feel like it. Not asking for any sympathy, as we feel God chose us to be her parents and consider her a gift. Just asking that you consider that some of us who complain have other reasons than just not wanting to drive to the snow. We love riding in our own area but that hasn't happened now for going on two years. We also love riding from here to Woodruff once each winter with friends. We can only hope that happens this year. It never did last year.

Okay, we can not fix this for you. You need to decide values and you have. There are 16,000 plus of us in here all with unique situations. I wish you the best. FRnash is dead center of AZ with a bad ticker, We got Florida folks, inner city Chicago and Detroit, even guys in prison who post here who would be happy to be in mid Wis. Heck your closer to good snow then many of us. Life is not that bad! Hang in there.

Two years ago I sold both my sleds and trailer, Not because I wanted too,but because I thought I had to because of big wage concessions we had to take at work. Paid off my collecter car. Went last year with out a sled. Even though there was no snow it still drove me crazy not to have a sled in the garage. Been sledding since 1970. Ended up buying an old 96 Polaris Ultra this year and love every minute when I'm out on the trails. Sure it doesn't ride like the new sleds but I don't really care as long as I'm out on the trails.

I'm sledless this year too. So, I get my snow-fix by running the groomer. Ya know, it ain't all bad being out there alone at 2am laying down a nice smooth trail knowing someone will enjoy it in the morning. it's all good. I'll have a sled again someday.

Don't think I could do that all night and not get on a sled afterwords. But we thank you for doing what you do!

While you never know for sure how you feel intil you're actually in the situation... I think I'd be able to drive that groomer and get somewhat of a fix. We all like the joy of riding, but being alone in the woods on a cold crisp star filled night leaving a perfect trail behind you could be a close second to riding. Course being out in driving snow, no visibility and meeting sled after sled that expects you to make room for them could get old.

X2 on thanks for driving that groomer!
