Wear Rods, what is best.

Anyone using the bergstrom triple points on the yamaha tuner ski? If so, what other bar you using on the outside keel?

I tried them on my 2012 Venture GT and used what Bergstrom recommended, which I believe is what Chad suggested his post. I think it's just a wear bar.

Went to look up snowtrackers on the net and found the hardcoresledder site talking about the snowtrackers and quite a few people didn't like them saying they would catch ruts and cause over steer and in a few cases high-siding and crashing. But most felt it was because of set up as apposed to the carbides, having to much ski pressure. With that being said for someone that spends time working on sled setup they are probably good for someone that just gets on and rides not so much. You would be better off with a carbide that is a little more forgiving. JMO

Yep goofy you have to back way off on transfer to 25% & ski pressure so you get excellent carving & super lite steering when set up correctly but agree you need to know how to set up your sled or forget it. For me I had 2ea 2012 Apex XTX sleds 1 set up with 8" triple points the other with aggressive Snow Trackers & the Apex XTX with STs carved better & had lighter steering even with eps. Triple points are not bad but STs are new to the party & I found in same sled comparo STs exceeded triple points. So next year STs for me. Too many people have no idea how to set their sleds up but I'm always pushing stock adjustments for best ride. Right now I'm thinking of revalving my rear shock to remove a smidge of kick probably most peeps would live with it but I know it can be better so keep pushing until I have best of best. :)

I understand those who like the triple points will stick with triple points. No problem...I'm only concerned that anyone interested in trying the snow trackers may get discouraged with such an emphasis on getting the sled "set up right" in order for the snow trackers to perform properly. I want to offer "my opinion" based on my actual experience over the last 7 seasons or so. I have installed the snow trackers on sleds that were completely stock. My sleds right now are completely stock factory settings. No special tuning or adjustments...and don't forget Pete, when you rode my sled I hadn't made any adjustments and still haven't. This of course pertains to our XTX's. I have no idea about the other brands that have completely different setups. I would imagine snow trackers have suggestions for other brands of sleds too.

I just didn't want people to be left thinking they had to do all this special tuning to use or even try the snow trackers. this message isn't meant to convince any triple point users to change. Keep using them and enjoy. Who knows, maybe I'll give them another try one day.

Our set up is different now all your transfer is on the track which lightens up the front end gives the STs a sharp carve & a lite touch to the steering as ST instructs. I had to put most of my transfer on the front skis with triple points to get close to what you have with STs. As you remember I had triple point push you did not with STs. It is easy with the Apex XTX to change transfer not sure with other sleds need to do but they will need to back off to 25% & I do get why that is necessary or probably will get oversteer on some sleds. Then you have traction products that change handling too so adjsutments need to be made to any carbide track combo to get best performance. No big deal I would do this with any carbide. We should do another comparo as I now have triple points peaked.

I understand. So you had to make adjustments to compensate for what you had already done for the triple points. I know that but maybe people reading don't know...so my point was if you have a sled with factory settings you shouldn't have to do a whole lot (nothing in my case) in order to try the trackers. Maybe it was just me and some of the misinformation people read online, but I was getting the impression that all this tuning had to be done prior to using Snow trackers and in my experience that hasn't been true...with the sleds I use.
I understand.

Darren all the new Apex XTX I have seen have tranfer all on track which is idea for STs. Seems my Doo was somewhere in the middle on 2003 MXZ as stock. Apex have a lot weight up front maybe why stock transfer is on track. I know if I did that on some 2s they would stand right up & wheelie not that the Apex would not wheelie when hooked up but not as dramatic. If all transfer is on sled skis STs would oversteer & triple points would not. IMO ST are a very aggressive carbide unless you go with semi aggressive which would probably be plenty for most trail riders. You do need to set light ski pressure with Sts but no big deal to do.

just saying he will never get dime one from me

Is that real or photoshop? He would have to be a complete idiot to put those stickers on his work van mixed in with his promo's, given the types of people who buy high end snowmobile parts. Plus he's from Illinois, not exactly a swing state. And a business owner, etc. I've seen stranger things though...
