We rode trail 1 last week. It's open but southern section was plowed for logging trucks. That might be part of the confusion since that section is not groomed.

We did not ride 100 but did see sleds coming out of the intersection. I have no idea if they just turned around or came from the lake. The trail 100 section visible from 1 had not been groomed for quite some time.

we rode trail 13 north from trail 2 up to trail 8 Wednesday 02/05...its open and was groomed up nice yesterday
trail 100 was closed with barricades and signs in 2 different spots, as trail 13 had a small reroute since 2 weeks ago .....we did not jump on the lake

Took a day trip up to watersmeet and put on 135 miles! Found a mixed bag, heavily trafficked grades are really the only problem trails. Took off around 9am and went up 3 to Greenland, filled up and headed to Rousseau bar for lunch. Then continued down to sidnaw and down 107 and back. Grade heading east of watersmeet is night and day after the trail 3 turn off. After hopping on the grade from 107, ran into the thunder riders groomer around 3. (that you goofy?). I graded the trails on the Polaris app map with highlighter. Few pics to share! IMG_9736.jpeg IMG_4709.jpeg IMG_4711.jpeg IMG_4714.jpeg IMG_4706.jpeg IMG_4707.jpeg IMG_4719.jpeg IMG_4718.jpeg

No, that wasn’t me. Yes rail grades take a real beating. And our area near the town of Watersmeet just doesn’t get the snow like 15 miles west or 15 miles north does.

OK guys I need a little help here as I am not familiar with this area we speak of and will be riding it for the first time soon...we will be going from Merriweather to Marenisco. Is the trail along the west side of the lake open? Is there any portion of that route we need to be concerned it is closed.
Can we do red route or do we have to do the yellow route or either?
Thanks so much I was just kinda confused

Yellow route is what is being groomed more or less red route isn’t where the trail runs that was an old trail. To the best of my knowledge with no access to the lake anymore on the west side.

Yep, this is correct. Red route always was the normal trail but closed for logging, yellow is the new trail and can’t hop onto the lake from the west side.

I thought I heard they rerouted trail 100 this weekend on the south side of the lake but could be wrong.

Last Friday talked to the Gogebic Lodge manager said the club told him they would find a way to put in a trail from there to 1N. Not sure that happened... we went across the lake to Root Cellar and took the east side down to 2 Grade. Was a good ride. Lake is in great shape.

I ran the access trail from the Lodge to Trail 1 going back to PI on Sunday evening. It was open, no signs or barricades but it hadn't seen a groomer in quite a while. Huge moguls, but it saved me running back up to the Hoop and west to catch 1 back down.

On Monday I just ran up and down 1. It was in great shape and it's a fast trail being forest roads.
