What are the arctic cat engineers thinking

Anyone that says AC is innovative in design really doesn't know what they are talking about. Maybe some innovation in engine design, but nothing anywhere else except wishbone suspension. But really wishbone wasnt invented by sled engineers, the design is a copy from the auto industry. A/C is a tired old company that's competing for the bottom shreds of market share with Yamaha, which is exactly why they are a great match! LOL

Amen. The Yami dealers in my area are totally embarrassed by the Yamicat. Great motor in a tired old chassis is what they say. I like the colors of the Yamicats, sure beats road construction orange. Just wondering how well the "Monster drink" colors and Cat trying to associate the "green" did for them in drawing in kids. Indy did not bite. I do love the cat magazine ads "Waiting for winter". With 85 models I think Cat marketing is throwing everything and the kitchen sink out there to get customers, hoping something bites.
For those who remember AMC (American Motors Co.) they felt, "If we build it... it will sell". and folks did buy Pacers & Matadors and their friends laughed. But we all need Cat to be around, Keeps prices down on Poo and Doo. I wish them well.

Just goes to show how specific sleds have gotten. Short tracks, mid length trail, crossovers. Then you have couple/ uncoupled not to mention engine sizes and doesn't take long for lineup to get pretty big.

You really have to get you history straight. There is a lot more on your Polaris that Cat invented and Polaris uses then Polaris invented. History lesson No. 1. Polaris stole their first fuel injection system from Mitsubishi (RXL), and lost their butts to Mitsubishi in the law suit. Cat made their own battery less EFI before Polaris made their.

this comes from a guy who rides a sled that's fuel injection system is less than 5 yrs old whos home team tried to copy a lay down twin to get weight low but it was a epic disaster. trailing arms were still on the menu what 3 yrs .cant remember if they have ever had a HP leading power plant. what are your thoughts on the c tech not out of the box enough for u .besides a rear suspension what exactly innovation has Polaris brought to the table?
to bad some one already clamed fusionfool for there screen name
poo makes a fine sled but I think someone needs to pull there head out of the sand and realize that your alter of blown crank cases has given very little to the sledding community as far as innovation .refinement of existing purchased technology ok I will give u that.
they all make nice rides I have owned many sleds from all of the existing oem and 2 things for the most part were the case yr after yr when I was out looking at sleds 1oem usually had the smoothest most reliable motor and 1 usually had the most HP out of the box. both of them u have a distaste for. threatened ? locker room envy

I believe SledTL was talking about the amount of models AC is offering and wasn't opening up the conversation to the constant, annoying anti yamaha...now anti AC comments from some on this site. Everyone knows who you are. I have my brands I like and will post positive comments about those brands when it makes sense. I will not post negative comments about the brands that I don't care for. It would be nice if everyone could stay on topic and not take the opportunity to regurgitate the same old anti-yamaha, not anti-AC comments. ok. I said what I had to say....

Back to the main topic....I would add that being in the restaurant business, I know that the more menu items we have the more our bottom line is effected negatively. We have some items that don't sell that much and ends up costing us money to have them. We are always trying to cut back on the available items in order to save money but are constantly worried about not having something for everyone. To compensate for the items losing money we have to charge more for the items that ARE selling. It would seem to me even though AC is not a restaurant selling food and drinks the same thing would apply in this market in some way or another. The bottom line is ultimately it will cause the sled prices to go up, making the consumer pay more in the end. That's my 2 cents....

I call BS on that one I have been to many yammi dealers in the last mo looking ator should I say looking for one . for the most part they are gone sold out so I guess they were so embarrassed they pushed them out of the showroom first so they did not have to look at them all season.

Lol, you haters are cute. Unlike some of the other brands I've owned, I've never felt the need to make excuses for, or feel insecure enough to bash another person's choice of sled while riding a Cat. Sad you don't feel the same about your ride. I think a small part of what makes riding a Cat so enjoyable for me is that nothing turns the brand nazis into a bunch of blithering idiots quite like AC Green. ;)
Ride em if ya got em!

Hey, Polaris was innovative. Didn't they invent the self destructing motor? Or did they just perfect the idea?

Just kidding of course, well...kinda, sorta. 5 rebuilds on mid 2000 700's and 800's.

Truth is, they all have strong and weak points. You just pick your poison.

one mechanic who works on ALL brands, as he does not work at a dealership, but he is independent repair ship-- his statement:
they are all junk, just buy one and hope for the best :)

might be some truth there, I just like riding and having a decent dealership nearby, that may be the deciding factor.

x2......Blue and Green are hated colors here....I think it's a great thing that Yamaha and Cat have a mutual trade agreement....IMO yamaha makes the best engines, and cat has a great chassis...if a little of both company's could rub off on each other ...it will only benefit us riders in the future....You polaris guys are lucky that the US government stopped the sale of Polaris to Ski-doo in the late 70's (or was it early 80's??) or there would be NO polaris as we know it....each of these companies working to together can only benefit us.

X3....Nothing you can do about the haters they don't listen never rode sleds they say are POS if they did they would know all Oems have their strong points...just a matter of preference. The 1 brand thing until I die makes no sense to me owned them all & can find good things to say about all of them. Haters are blind just want to hate makes them feel better to vent is all I can think.

hate is such a strong word. Its kind of like college football. Go Blue Go Green! Side note: I rode Doo during Poos dark years. (Fusions). Miss my 1981 440 Scorpion Sting and my 85 SRV. May even give 2nd year yamicat a chance. Gotta go sled is warmed up!!!!!

Well when you start the conversation out with "it doesn't take an idiot" with reference to Cat, what do you expect? You sound a lot like Indy did 5 years before he got old and wise. Sounds like you got it all figured out.
