What boots and socks do you wear?

I am on my 2nd pair of Sorel boots in 15 years. My feet get COLD and these boots have never let me down. I just wear regular ol socks like others have said. I can't wear wool so have tried different synthetic socks on SUPER cold days.

I DO take my boots off at stops. At LEAST unlace... but usually just take them off and am done with it.

After wearing Sorel's for many years I went to Klim Adrenaline's and Klim socks this year. My feet were always wet in the Sorel's (sweat) and so far a little moist at best with the Klim's. Rode Friday in the near zero temps all day and my feet were never cold either.

X4 on the IKlim Adrenaline boots. I just got a pair for my birthday and rode all last week in the Keweenaw, feet were warm and dry. By the way I used regular cotton socks with no problems, I am however going to use the proper socks when I buy them. My old boots were Fox Racing and I think they started leaking or I started sweating more because earlier this season my feet were getting really wet. At any rate the new boots rock!

Haines white socks and Arctic Cat Premium boots. Quits wearing the extra layer of socks beacuase of sweating. This works for me, can't keep my wifes feet warm.

I always seem to have cold feet and hands. I wear Klim Adrenaline boots with my hunting socks, wool blend. My feet stay warm even when I climb off and am standing around in the snow. :) I love my boots.
I would recommend a think liner sock to wick away moisture.

klim Adrenaline, smartwool or the 80+% merino wools socks made in Cherboygen. Both are good socks. Seldom do I wear the thick ones mostly the hikers which are thinner. BUT have & like both.

Iceman boots and a pair of white sweat socks, unless there are more than 10 of us in my group, then I ride barefoot that way i can signal on-coming riders!

Well Indy I switched this year from Sorrel Extreme's to FRX Backshifts so I will let you know right now I only have 25 miles on them so not really a true test, I will say this they are a ton lighter. Also if you standup riding switching your weight back and forth I would think it would alot like walking which would pump the blood back out of your feet keeping them warmer just a thought

lol. x2 on the LaCrosse Iceman's w/white cotton socks, works great to around 10 degrees. Colder than that and I will add a wool sock to the system. If you're sweating the polypropylene covered by cotton then wool is an excellent method for wicking moisture into the cotton and wool insulates even when wet. Good luck.

Indy,

I recommend Klim boots with thin first sock that breathes. Dress socks work good. It allows your feet to wick moisture and breathe. A good second layer sock is Smartwool heavy weight. (REI carries them). I have had this set up for 3 years and not one time have my feet been cold. Prior I wore Sorrel Boots and my feet were always cold and wet. Just my story and experience. I have a buddy who "bucked up" this winter with Klim boots and nothing but raves from him. Hope it helps

I don't want to break the "no business bashing " rule, but hopefully John will give me a free pass on this one.
Smart-wool and REI are both anti-snowmobiling/anti-access supporters. A portion of your money you spend with them is going to directly fund greeny groups trying to destroy the sport we all love! Just a heads up.

Thanks for all the replies guys, looks like i'll just try a regular pair of socks, and if that don't work, i'll hunt for some new boots next fall.

Wore regular socks today, feet weren't cold, socks weren't soaked, (same as last weekend) inside of boot liners are dry, outside are soaked, and the inside of the boots themselves were soaked. Feet didn't sweat at all (believe me they didn't) looks like i'll be getting a new pair of boots this next fall.
