What boots and socks do you wear?

I don't want to break the "no business bashing " rule, but hopefully John will give me a free pass on this one.
Smart-wool and REI are both anti-snowmobiling/anti-access supporters. A portion of your money you spend with them is going to directly fund greeny groups trying to destroy the sport we all love! Just a heads up.

RU Outside Boots with any non cotton thin sock for the past 6yrs without any issues even during sub zero temps.

If you stick with this idea (above), none of us should wear anything with Gore-Tex. Gore-Tex (the brand) supports the same groups.

Regarding North Face...
North Face is owned by VF Corporation which owns a lot of different companies, including the clothing line Nautica, Lee, Jansport, Wrangler, Vans, to name a few. where do you stop?

Now back on topic...

I'm with you " snoluver "

Wigwam, is the other sock manufacturer that is out of Cherboygen MI. Couldn't remember the name when I posted the 1st time. Thanks for the heads up. I did a comparison side by side with the SW's and the WIGWAMS are almost identical, few bucks cheaper too. I will not support a " Sled Nazi " . John has to make an exception here. I think I'm going to buy another can , maybe a " JAWS " can and run it around the closest REI. The WIGWAM's are made in the USA.

Don't know about the Gore company, but I will have to draw the line there.

I've got 10-12 yr old klim boots (before they cost $8000) they're OK but feet can still get wet, of course I'm only wearing cotton socks.

GF wears some nice baffin boots, new to her this year. She also wears cotton socks and her feet were fine when mine we're freezing cold and wet a few weeks back. Hers are rated to -147 F and are less than 1/2 the weight of mine, (smaller feet but not 1/2 the size). I really like her boots and will be getting a pair next year.

I still use the old trusty Sorels from wayback and Nike ankle socks. Feet have never gotten cold ever. I use the same boots for ice fishing where your standing on ice all day long too..

Wore regular socks today, feet weren't cold, socks weren't soaked, (same as last weekend) inside of boot liners are dry, outside are soaked, and the inside of the boots themselves were soaked. Feet didn't sweat at all (believe me they didn't) looks like i'll be getting a new pair of boots this next fall.

Indy - I'd keep your eyes out for sales the rest of the season. Maybe you will be able to find something with a good sale made with goretex from Cabelas, bass pro, etc. Probably find a much better deal in the next month or so than next season.

I'm hoping for a good deal on a true snowmobile brand pair of boots like hmk or trukke, something that you can move around on better when stand-up riding. Forgot to add klim, i'd really like a pair of klim boots. Doesn't help that i can't find any close to new used boots on here that they don't like because it "doesn't fit right" because no one wears size 14...

Indy check out the trukkes for sure, I love mine, feet
stay warm and dry, mine are early and the buckles
are tough to get open when cold.

Another option you may want to consider would be Snowboard Boots. My son's been wearing his for riding for at least the last 6 or 7 years and he claims to love them for snowmobiling. He wears nothing more than a thin pair of socks and as far as I know he's never had a problem with cold feet. My guess is that you may have a better chance of finding your size in a newer "used pair of snowboard boots in your size than a snowmobile specific boot. Good luck.

Trukke boots with a superthin polypropylene sock under a pair Drymax socks or other non-cotton sock.

I wear LaCrosse Iceman's with a polypro base sock and a Drymax style sock over that. I change the thickness of the Drymax style sock depending on the outside temps.

My feet stay nice and dry. The boot liners and boots themselves are wet and get air dried out every night after riding.

Your base layer and outer layer needs to be a moisture wicking type of sock.

Indy, you wear 14's? I have a pair of Doo boots in 12's you could have. Trukkes are good boots, but really like RUOutside boots. They put them on sale often. Baffin makes them I'm sure.
