What do You do for a Living?

Just wondering how we make our sled money. Maybe we can even create some business contacts. Who knows?

I'm a maintenance worker for a Village/suburb of Chicago. I repair just about anything in three fire stations, a police station, or any municipal property. I also have a cdl and can plow with any truck in the Village if needed. I know the feeling most people have about Public employees (and believe me I see b.s. everyday) but I work hard and stay busy and take pride in my work. The pay is good, the benefits are great and I have security. It works for me.

Specialized Equipment Operator. Elgin Street Sweeper, summer season. On call Snow Removal winter season, pickup, loader, skidsteer. Salt and sand spreading.

Plant manager for a company that makes bucket trucks for use in the transmission/utility/telcom industry.

I'm the guy in that commercial that works with monkeys...

This will be an interesting thread to watch...I was fortunate to be a Baby Boomer that was able to retire early. Both my wife and I have pensions and we were able to invest some over the years. We also have cropland in Central Wisconsin that's been in our family for many years and is rented out in Corn and Soybeans.

The Mrs. and I each work part-time, she's a substitute teacher in the Neenah public schools and I work for a local bus company as a driver with a morning and afternoon route. It's my way of giving something back to the community and I like the people... I mean the monkeys I work with. I'll probably continue to do this until some 3rd Grader tries to scalp me and then I'll have to re-evaluate. All in a day's work, folks, all in a day's work.

I run my family business manufacturing trolley buses. We build about 100 a year. They go all over the country. We built all the ones operating in door county wi. image.jpg

I farm a few hundred acres and have 40 beef cows, so really just an other expensive hobby!
I also work doing maintenance at a golf course in the summer, mechanic and the like.

Local 322, Carpenter foreman. Been doing this for 17 yrs. went to school for auto technology before that. I do mostly interior finishing, commercial and residential work.

I'm the construction project manager for a behavioral health (substance abuse and mental health) organization. Doesn't sound like much, but in the past 6 years we've gone from 9 locations and 200 employees to 60 sites and almost 1,000 employees. Keeps me busy. If this doesn't work out, I'm planning to intern with Ezra

Im a toolmaker that got the bright idea to start my own machine shop 10 years ago. Still in business, so I must be doing something right. I mostly do short run production and prototyping for whats left of the medical manufacturing companies in northern IL.

CNC Journeyman Machinist - currently run a 4 axis live tooling lathe doing mostly longer shaft work, which I'll finish up by cutting a keyway or throwing a bolt pattern on the face of a part (hence the live tooling/4 axis). Have been in this line of work for almost 4.5 years now, out of high school for 3.5, and got my journeymans card a few months ago. I pull the graveyard shift 4 days a week leaving me 3 day weekends to go bash my Pro RMK into some trees.
