We own a small but growing business. This started two years ago at the age of 61 when I decided that I had enough of Corporate America and wanted to live my life without having to answer to anyone but my other two business partners. It has been an exciting two years, full of promise and heartbreak at times. Anyone who owns a business knows the risks and investment side and that you stand not to turn a profit for up to 5 years. We expect to do so after just 2 years and this year is looking very promising. Also known is the fact that some owners don't pull a regular paycheck so I am quite used to living on my savings, not something I prefer but it is what it is until the coffers are full. I won't change much but perhaps people that live day to day will learn that you really need to save your money and have that 3-6 month salary in reserve for emergencies. People say they can't do it with what they make but thats not entirely true, If you cut out wants and just go with the needs you can really trim the fat. Its really true, people can live without Cable TV, a new iPhone, going out to dinner, Starbucks, car payments, and the list goes on. Good luck everyone and if you don't depend on the Government (Which by the way is all of us) then you can truly control your destiny.
