What tool to use to remove exhaust springs

What do you use to remove exhaust springs?

A buddy has a long t handle tool with some slots in it that seems to work pretty well. Is there something better than this? Perhaps some kind of pliers?

I like to use a pair of vice grips, needle nose or regular it just depends.

I did this and then the screwdriver handle slipped off. I just bought the tool for $8, life is much easier.

I just get about a foot of automotive wire and hold the ends together. Hook it under spring and pull. Really works great for putting them back on

but how much fatter is your store bought tool than the screwdriver.I dont like the fat head makes it kinda hard to get the tool out on some springs.was working on a IQR today and was using a store spring tool pita went to the grinder and made a working tool

I bought one of those Tusk brand tools. It looks kind of chunky but it may not bend. Although it may be a PITA to get some of those springs off.

I used to use needle nose vise grips but I just invested 20 bucks for the t handle looking tool your talking about from parts unlimited. Very good investment, I get alot of practice taking off springs between my xcr with tripple pipes and all the sleds we work on.

"T" handle exhaust spring tool is the way to go for sure.

Spring tool or a long round shoe string.Save those knuckles no more leaking red stuff.

Best Tool and Cheapest!!!

best tool is a shoe lace, preferably a heavy duty one like used on a pair of boots-longer is better. It gives you a lot of flexibility in the direction you pull, and the length gives you options to pull from a "convenient" spot- over/under the pipe, steering post, etc. Still recommend wearing gloves to save the knuckles, but it also keeps enough tension on the spring to grab it BEFORE it falls down where you can't reach it! Never leave home without a shoe string!
