So, this discussion has already started before the season is off. Next we need the off-trail trespassing, loud pipes, hand signals, and sea and snow discussions. Did I miss anything?

Was just reading about cats "new" 800 motor. Supposedly textron wouldn't cough up the coin to re-tool the exhaust for it and its a lame duck. low 150's HP. Thats not gonna help. If true I would say the writing is very clear on the proverbial wall.....

Probably gets 13 MPG too, way too low.

I don't think this relates to previous threads. When in the last 10 years has it looked this bleak? Sure Yamaha has changed their model a little, but not to the point of holding back investment and forcing dealers out.....

Yep I totally agree. Both of us are trying to enlighten people that Textron / Yamaha are at a breaking point and when Snow Tech puts it in print in a featured article it becomes public knowledge. This relationship will change this winter before a 2021 product line will be released. Yes Yamaha can survive by going it alone but if Textron shuts down chassis mfg it’s curtains for AC. The AC dealerships are being phased out by Textron via their master plan of distribution which is all about dirt products not snowmobiles. Bleak indeed for those that have done their business research the evidence points to an acquisition by Yamaha that Textron is not motivated to sell. No sale , no dealer distribution why or how can AC continue? Textron just doesn’t seem to care about AC or Yamaha and why should they the Yamaha agreement was inherited and Textron bought AC for dirt products.

Talked with a dealer at Haydays this past weekend, out of respect not telling who. He said they don't know whats happening, they haven't gotten much information from AC/Textron, but the sales reps are telling them to act like nothing is wrong to not "spook" people. He said in 3 years they will stop selling to him, didn't really understand that comment, but maybe the forcing of some dealers out? His parting words were, "I was going to take a $500,000 loan to convert some acreage into a bigger store 3 years ago and I thank my lucky stars I didn't pull the trigger."

In my humble opinion A/C got a red carpet out of business by their neighbor Polaris.
We all know ATV/UTV sales is where sales are at, not sleds.
Currently, Poo has new 2019 base 570's for $5,200 and 450's for $4,395. This equals better product at a lower price.
Poo UTV's are also dirt cheap as they roll out new redesigns which A/C is way outclassed in quality, price and appeal.

All brands are suffering from brand loyalty departing as people die. New customers that come into the market are not loyal and move between brands.
Probably a few young fellers on here too.

uh..your my buddy, but you move between brands every year and i dont think anyone has made a profit on you ever..

I am happy things didn't go too bad for them.

10 years ago those buffoons at A/C were giving anyone who had two nickels to rub together a dealership, and now they want to close'em down..oui.
Gander Mountain even had a dealership prior to their bankruptcy.
At one time there were like 10 A/C dealers within 50 miles of Green Bay. Sad thing was Ken's in Little Chute had more sleds in stock than the other 9 dealers combined so why did A/C build up their dealers? To hurt their best dealer? Probably to sell franchise's and collect up-front fees to keep em going.

Who can plan business investments when being treated like that? Answer no one. Lol. Textron is done with AC snowmobiles no idea what’s happening with Yamaha the ship is adrift due to lack of commitment by both companies. Will the consumer still purchase new sleds from either AC or Yamaha? Doubtful imo if dealers are doomed no support in the distant or near future. Dealers can’t survive on oil and hyfax changes they need to sell new sleds and install accessories.

Nothing new in this statement other than Textron admits they haven’t communicated very well if at all to the media regarding the future of the snow division. After reducing TRF workforce and number of dealers AC is non profitable for what a week , a day , a month??? Also I never saw a company reduce distribution and sell more as an end result??? As far as new products imo probably something to do with the alpha track size or something dumb like that. The final insult not 1 stinking comment regarding the OEM relationship with Yamaha. I mean really how stupid does Textron think we are???

Textron does not think we are stupid. Textron just plain and simple does not care about sinking more money into something that is probably never going to make them much money. They do not care about " The storied history of the Arctic Cat Brand." They also do not care about or feel responsible to keep Yamaha snowmobiles going for now and forever. They are not interested in investing in an industry who's Heyday is long gone. The entire business has changed over the last 15 years also. As the machines have become more reliable the main responsibility for the remaining dealers is to sell sleds and not so much to fix them. A lot of people do no maintenence to their sleds from the time they buy them until they get rid of them. A lot more buy their suits and gloves and boots and belts over the internet rather than visit a dealer. My local dealers - now all gone - used to make a fair amount of money on clothing and fixing sleds. Those days are gone. Also there used to be a sled or three parked in front of every house up here in the great white north back in the 70's and 80's. No longer. We have never had better equipment or clothing or the extensive multi state groomed trail system that we enjoy now. Things have never been better but the sport is dying. Go figure.
