What’s Happening With AC & Yamaha?

Textron does not think we are stupid. Textron just plain and simple does not care about sinking more money into something that is probably never going to make them much money. They do not care about " The storied history of the Arctic Cat Brand." They also do not care about or feel responsible to keep Yamaha snowmobiles going for now and forever. They are not interested in investing in an industry who's Heyday is long gone. The entire business has changed over the last 15 years also. As the machines have become more reliable the main responsibility for the remaining dealers is to sell sleds and not so much to fix them. A lot of people do no maintenence to their sleds from the time they buy them until they get rid of them. A lot more buy their suits and gloves and boots and belts over the internet rather than visit a dealer. My local dealers - now all gone - used to make a fair amount of money on clothing and fixing sleds. Those days are gone. Also there used to be a sled or three parked in front of every house up here in the great white north back in the 70's and 80's. No longer. We have never had better equipment or clothing or the extensive multi state groomed trail system that we enjoy now. Things have never been better but the sport is dying. Go figure.

Pretty much says it all grub. Sad, but so it is snowmobiling sport these days in time. I will go out on a limb, because of some info received last snow season that I believe to be true. However that is if Textron/AC does produce a brand new snow chassis/engine/sled. With that, I doubt seriously that it will also be branded Yamaha. This being if your in the fight of business survival, profits, you're not going to create your own competition, eh? Sadly, Yamaha made their decision years ago that they were no longer interested in, or wanting to producing snowmobiles. I bought into Yamaha BS that they would produce a all new, all Yamaha snowmobile 6, or 7 years back. Yeah well, good luck with that too.

i dont hear POLARIS cryin (or ski-doo) companys that stayed ahead of the curve and invested in modern technology..and created sleds people want..no idea why anyone would buy a yamaha over the last 10 years..or for that matter a cat..

so goodbye..survival of the fittest..snowmobiling aint going anywhere..its at the top of its game..

sure changes are coming..higher tags..paid grooming..but who cares as long as i can hit 100 and have a sled that can handle it..

so long suckers..

If you care to reveal why you stated new sleds are coming from both AC and Yamaha we are very willing to look, listen and learn. It’s like they say “ Show me the money “ lol

Textron/AC, possible??? Yamaha, yeah, well, good luck with that! If Yamaha was going to build a new snowmobile, they would not have waited this long, eh?

I don’t get it why keep posting what Hoosier already posted and members responded? Read response 1 in the article post and that sums up the BS and what we members said upstream in the thread already about down sizing dealers. Lol

You got to be kidding this timeline has been years and I’m not on any time line. In my life I heard the Kennedy BS from VPs on Monday layoffs on Friday. Don’t kid yourself downsizing of AC is not over by a long shot. Think of it this way if AC / Yamaha relationship is over that will result in lay offs. New sleds can mean track size , engine size whatever we have been through this before as well. As Sled TL said at best damage control for what Textron caused the usual upper management BS to try and calm the media , employees and the consumer. If you’re drinking that cool aid you’re easily swayed. You are welcome to your opinion but lots of evidence to the contrary.

Just saying I'm not worrying about it. Unlike last 5 years everyone saying (Cat,Yamaha) going out business. Yet both still here.
You want know what's going on with them, what's on dealer floor is what's going on. Want to know more, gonna have get back in corporate world. No one gonna come out and say, it's almost over, or we don't care about consumers want ride what we have.
Both build some great 2020 sleds. Days of huge changes every few years long gone.
Enjoy today don't worry bout tomorrow.

.....on another rumor note, heard AM snow is done with magazine???

It must be that too many sledders are using Sea n Snow, thus driving sled Mfr's out of business due to no engine failures?

It sounds likes a lot of guys on this site have nothing better to do then to drum up a self-fulling prophecy.

I agree with a lot you’re saying in this post AC and Yamaha not changing much any time soon with procross and I don’t see any changes in the near future unless a new chassis is released. Only the top management in Textron and Yamaha really knows the truth regarding new tooling for new products. It was refreshing for Textron to admit their PR to the public and media was abysmal maybe Yamaha will finally hold a press conference too. Interesting you stated AM Snowmobile magazine is at a cross roads. Once one of my fav magazines looked really bad this month very thin basically a throw away lots of changes. I didn’t renew my subscription just not worth it any longer. Down to just Snow Tech for now.

More info on what cat said at hay days. Before everyone disputes it yes it could all be damage control, wishful thinking, ignorant, or outright lies, and no they didn't comment on whatever yamaha is doing.

This snowest feature makes sense and Kennedy stuck his foot in the ground and is ready to make forward progress admitting AC blew it with the media. So yes agree it could all be BS but a positive move with the media. The Amsnowmobile article wasn’t well written and took off on new products promised that wasn’t in this article. Imo Yamaha now needs to take center stage to address the media as well regarding their plans if they have any. Yamaha sure isn’t buying AC as many were speculating.

Unless I missed it, he didn't even mention their agreement with Yamaha. He said they weren't selling to Yamaha but nothing about the agreement. Interesting...
