Where Is Early Season Trail Grooming in WI & MI?

I didn't see any panning from western Forest County into Vilas from Eagle River,Conover Phelps up to Lando. Granted still black powder deer season thru Sunday but thought some early bird Clubs might be on it. Imo it might be better to ride in this dense snow but just my opinion.

UP may be first to groom trails since they have the most snow.

Go ahead & post grooming you see on trails so we have a feel of how conditions are shaping up.

Not offical but everything I hear is Vilas Trails will open Monday.... I know the Clubs want to & are trying to make it happen & Mayo inspections have been ongoing.

Don't know Pete, I haven't seen any grooming yet & I don't have far to look. Monday will be tough, minimal snow in SE corner & wet swamps.

The ones stuck in swamps are most likely the local club members volunteering and sacrificing their time and sleds to pack the suspended snow caught up in the swamp grass into the water so it will freeze. If you don't it will take much longer.

I hear ya Jim but plenty to ride in if that is the choosen method. It would be a shame to not pack in with sleds & subzero coming Tuesday.

It is so important to pack swamps down and the spread out making it wide, not just a single path. I groom through many swamps and I take my sled out and pack them down the best I can. It's always a long night the first time grooming over the swamps each year! The knuckles are white from gripping the steering wheel and the heart beat picks up quite a bit.

It has been very wet around here this year so swamps are very full with water exposed, so they are freezing up much better than when the water is more at ground level and insulated by the vegetation and snow.

Why don't you (and a handful others in here) start a "local club members" only forum where you folks can air all your grievances and tell the rest of us who does all the work and who should be the snowmobiler of the year and blah blah.

(And btw I am a local club member )

As I have done Brad, if you don't want to read what certain people post, make use of the "ignore member" option.
