thanks WD.
you hear anything on Western Marinette, Forrest Co's. yet?
Thinking they don't have as much snow yet.

Timo Forest County opener is really difficult to know as so different county wide. I usually key off 3 lakes and the Brule system since 3 lakes grooms that part of Forest and the Kimball trail. I do ride those trails and see them on the way to ER by car so hope to see grooming soon. There was lots of untouched standing snow in trail 10 last time I looked around Kentuck Lake area.

Was at Frosty (Lando) tonight and prolly won't groom until next week when swamps freeze up just too much risk to stick a groomer now. I'm ok with this... ride in is best bet right now ....better than panning for trails, riders and groomers. I'm good with it.

Kevij.... It's all good most of us understood what you posted and it was smart to quailfy who is prolly riding swamps and why. Please everybody stay on track about early grooming as me & my buds are trying to plan and make the best of early grooming and conditions. I'm sure others want the same info too.:)

Looks like I read you wrong- my apologizes.

whitedust,

Do the swamps freeze up within a week up there? We usually don't go on them until the first week of January. We have turnarounds at all of our swamps or we wouldn't get much grooming done. We need a few more inches yet, hopefully this weekend!

Down the road from you we run our swamps with sleds first. We're fortunate to have twin track groomers which go through swamps a little cleaner than tractors usually do. :)

Mark...They are running swamps with sleds right now with temps in low single digits and snowmobiling big biz here so next week is the grooming target if at all possible. You know how it is people pay big $ to ride Lando, ER, Phelps so Clubs do the best they can to keep guests happy and coming back. Peeps might remember good trail conditions but they always remember poor conditions. lol:)

I hear ya Pete! I'm surprised the swamps would freeze good enough to groom over by next week.

White Thunder Riders out of Hurley is reporting Iron County will be opening tomorrow (Wed 12/14). Obviously early season conditions and more snow is needed, but sounds like about 80% of their trail system will be rideable.

Groomer has gone past the Lando Lakes rec camera so frosty club is out. Ben nice job on the second camara gives true look at trail.

Thanks Jim! We hope everyone likes it and should give people an idea of "real world" conditions. Although keep in mind that intersection gets the brunt of traffic through Lando.

Frosty Club did pan today in anticipation for the opener in Vilas tomorrow at noon. Hopefully we get some more snow with this cold.

For those that don't know, we did install another cam that faces down Trail 6East.....Heres a current screenshot showing the pan that Jim spoke of;

Drove to Woodruff yesterday and Eagle River panning on Trail 10 from Anvil lake to ER looked excellent.....I mean as good as it gets! They got on it before the blow then drifting snow ,many inches, now on the panned trails. Trouble is Anvil Lake ends the groom on the east side.... Forest County untouched prolly not open yet. But on the positive side some of Vilas looks pretty darn good for early season riding.

WD - did you see anything on 10W - west of ER? Along HWY 70? Or around St. Germain - are they panning over that way yet?
