Who has the best Pasty

Lehtos in St. Ignace. After driving for hours and hours to get to the U.P. that is the first place I stop at (oh I forgot, get gas at the Shell, cheaper then in Mackinaw) and then eat while I drive. Tonys in Laurium, yummo and that includes the good old fashion iced molasses cookie while still warm. And yes, Pats is also good. And I agree with Boondocker, MUST have rhutabaga in it. My grandmother, mother, aunt and sister all made/make a good pasty with the FLAKY CRUST. I make them but they just don't taste the same.

Well I am biased but my moms, she is Cornish and learned her pasty skill from her mom who came from Cornwall back in the early 1900s, Slim's Cafe, Mohawk Superette and Jims Pizza offer a great pasty that are delicious and bring your appetite cause you get a whopper at any of these venues. Just my 2 cents.

Mohawk Superette,............Tho I'm only a block away.

Pasty

From someone who lives here in Calumet, I would say my in-laws make the best pasty but they are not for sale. :(

However, the kids have never not finished a Pasty form Toni's Country Kitchen in Laurium so I will go with them. And yes, "ruda-beggy" is a MUST!!!

Pasty corner in Iron River has best pasties, just won best pasty in UP contest. Second to that would be Krupps in Twin Lakes.

Sump'tin we gotta know: Who is supplyin' the pasties to Krupps? Or are they makin' their own?

They make their own, and my vote goes to them! I just need to see if I can get Deb to make a breakfast pasty!

Thanks for the clarification, Skylar.
With all they do they also have time to make their own primo pasties! Now that is truly awesome!

I like Henry's and Krupp's pasties but have to say that Wildwood Pasties in Brevort, Michigan (on Rt. 2 west of St. Ignace) has the best.

Just for a little more clarification, Richard and Sandy Krupp own Krupp's Resort, and Deb and Jim Saur own Krupp's Mini Mart. Deb worked at the store for Sandy, and then when Sandy and Richard put the store up for sale, Deb and Jim bought it.

We're wishing we were at Lac La Belle with the J.D. gang but instead we're watching J.D. on the webcam and making homemade pasties in the LP.

Ezra, we were just talking about that too. They're giant if you make them the way most recipes say. Would make good appetizers.

the old minners must have had some big lunch boxes.I am telling you if someone making pastys in da UP would make a small one with a muffpot or hotdoger as a template they would sell alot at gas staitons and sutch then prob get magazine coverage and soon get a mail order biz shipping muff pot size pastys all over the US snobelt.afterall a hot pocket is a sorry excuse for a meal

Yep, the miners, with that hard work probably needed them that big and could still burn off all the calories.

Ezra, maybe you should start that company...shhh...you could sell 'em like crazy on here.

When I need a fix i order them online from Pasty Central.com, they are made from the old ladies at the retirement home in Bessmer, MI. They ship them frozen right to your house. Not to shabby to get a pasty by UPs.
