Who is snow checking what?

Snow check? I wish. Instead I'm thisclose to selling my sled & trailer and ditching the sport. I love it. I've been going on Northwoods trips for over 20 years. But the cost is getting crazy. I have 10K sitting in my driveway that could be in my pocket. I'm lucky to get up for 3 trips/year- at 1K/weekend. Add in insurance, maintenance, trail stickers, FUEL.... I'm thinking 10K in my pocket and a sweet caribbean vacation every year (for the cost of UP trips/ins/maintenance) sounds pretty good. BUT- I can't actually pull the trigger and list my stuff. Yet.

Nic, save your negativity. Maybe you cannot justify but the hard core will perceiver. Question was what did you snow check. P.s. tell me about your trailer.

I DID pull the trigger and sold my sled & trailer for many of the same reasons you stated.

Figure I can rent a sled, and worst case, if I miss it that much, I can always get back into it.

PR1- I'm not trying to be negative. In fact, I think I secretly hoped people would reply telling me how I'm talking nonsense and pull me out of my funk =)
Like xcsp said- given my limited use, renting looks more and more appealing. I won't be the fastest chick on the lake anymore, but I would still get to enjoy the sport that I've loved since I rode my first leopard print seat kitty kat.
If I was to snowcheck, I'd have to do a LOT of research! I grew up a Yamaha girl (isn't that what everyone rode in the 80s??) 1979 340 enticer was my first ride. I switched to Polaris when I got back into the sport after college. I'm actually really happy with my current sled (which is why I'm struggling to put a for sale sign on her- 09 800 dragon). I am not a big fan of the rush chassis. I rode it, I think it's cold. Since poo is moving pretty much everything to that platform, I'd most likely be looking into a skidoo. My husband would be getting a new Apex (if we were snowchecking)

As for the trailer- it rocks. One of those that are hard to find. We were giddy when we spotted it. It's a 2007 Triton 2 place enclosed. It's a 12 foot (your mountain sleds will fit in there). It's got the white fiberglass top that flips up in front/back- so you drive on/off. Not tilt. It's fully loaded with track mats, ski slides, etc.

I am interested in the trailer if you wish to get out. Renting is getting to be the way to do it. I ride rentals way harder than my own sled.

Who is paying the price of snow checking a new sled. So far $7000 in new furniture, oh wait that was for buying the snow thrower. She has been shopping new kitchen appliances for "me" so she says, the old almond color has to go. Stainless steel is in dontcha know???Okay, this is what she brought home, says she needs a new grocery getter, the old Buick Rendevous just isn't cool since we tossed the last of the kids out of the house again. We lock the doors but they keep finding ways in! So should she get the car or not. Remember she has a car, motorcycle and a snowmobile already Oh, and a boat. (the car is way cool). Remember now, This car don't match her purse or any of her shoes. So you guys know what that means.
