Good question. I went back to look at oldest threads and see if I could find my first post.. And they too start in 2009. Did we loose all discussion post then too,?? I don't remember that, only our post counts and beginning date reset.

Been checking in on a daily basis since just about the beginning I think? 99' ish? All I know is I turned 40 this year, and I wasn't old enough to buy beer when I started! So yeah, it's been a while!

I was told about the site from a displaced Keweenawian I was working with at the time. (is that a real word Professor Nash?)

Does anyone know what date the site actually went live?

It's crazy to think about, but when I first started visiting this site, I didn't even have internet or even a computer at my house. Could only log on at work. When you clicked on one of John's Polcat pictures, you had to wait 5 minutes for it to download! Ha ha...

I'm thinking the Administrator will have some dates for us soon.

But here's another thought....who's had the most posts over the years? You might recall a guy, Polarisrider1, I think his name was. Didn't he exceed 10,000 posts at one time. And then he disappeared....somewhat of a brawler on here at times.

Last I heard he's completely out of snowmobiling too.

So true! We had dial up at home! It would take over an hour to read a journal with pictures! Lolololol

I think I first joined sometime winter of '00-01, was UP riding with my friend billjd, and he
told me about this Great site!! yes a lot of snow under the track since then, wow! I have bumped into John a few times
over the years while riding and had some good conversations with others here also.
Keep UP the good work, Definitely my go-to snow prognosticator!!!

I know I wasn’t one of the first, but I had a cabin in northern Sconnie early 2000’s, and I attributed the reduction in sleds and riding in my area to this site - everyone started driving that extra hour or two to get to the ‘big snow’ of the UP Lake Effect - I thought it was great! More and more often my off trail play areas were untouched, and trails lasted through a Saturday afternoon a lot better than they used to!

We had a place in Dodgeville MI around 2002. We were at the Loading Zone in Lake Linden when somebody mentioned this local guy with great weather reports. Started relying on those reports ever since.

Thanks John

I'm pretty sure I came on in 99. Too hard to remember back to how everything was back then, but I don't think the board was up and running, and I was really tracking the weather every day.

Not sure how long ago but this site was up and running when I bought a new 99 sled. John used to do a journal almost daily in the early years. Its been along time for me.

I looked daily at the Pasty Cam on the Pasty Central website since their inception. I recall they announced John's site. That is when I joined, circa 1999.
