Why Polaris can hand out bonuses

So I read in your statement that a usa built engine by a company that start producing their own engines around 15 years ago is better then any japanese engine on the market that has been building engines for decades. I would have to give the point to experience on this arguement.

With that said, I don't have to change plugs in my Cat's Suzuki engine until 36,000 miles. How often do you change plugs in your 500? Talk about reliability, all I do to my Cat is anually replace the hyfax, anually or every other year replace the skags, change the oil every or every other year, keep the battery on the trickle charger during non-use, grease it annually, clean the clutches annually, wash it annually, and change the chaincase lube annually. Otherwise, I fill it with gas and start it with a key. Ride for 200 miles, fill it with gas and start it with a key. Ride for 200 miles, fill it with gas and start it with a key. Ride for 200 miles, fill it with gas and start it with a key. Ride for 200 miles, fill it with gas and start it with a key. ...

Get the picture? (it's like owning a car)

In other threads he brags about the fujis. He just doesn't like non-polaris japanese engines. No use arguing with him.

Wow. I'm impressed some of you know what it takes internally to run some of these businessess to allow them to succeed. If they are able to sell product, pay bills, and hand out bonuses, good for them. As said before, if you don't like it, don't buy the product.

X2. You forgot to mention if your making money your also paying taxes. (amount may vary).

Well, If they are paying bonuses I suspect they are paying dividends, Bonus! Way better than an anouncement that they are losing money and laying off hundreds.

I say if you dont like the price dont buy thew product.I bought ink for my printer it cost my $40.00 .I could buy a new printer for $55.00. Pol started out making strawchoppers for combines. They have been a division of Textron. They have built many recreational vehicles including wet bikes, boats and even high end go carts. The Star Car.They have been at this for many years and have seen many things come and go. Through it all they still make sleds which to me is a miracle. There is a lot more money in their 4 wheelers. There is a guaranteed market for the RZR and a lot of their other 4 wheelers through the US govt. They are selling the sh**t out of these. Pol has rolled with the times and in the long run has made the most out of things. They have had a lot of management changes and through it all have decided to continue to make sleds. From a money standpoint this is a very stupid decision. There is no money in sleds. Especially since 2003. Do you have any idea how much it has taken to catch up to the other 3 since then?2003 Arctic came with the Firecat. 'Doo came with the first Rev. Yami came with the RX1. Pol came with ...... lumpy stickers on their SP hoods. They then put the pedal to the metal and came up with the Fusion which never should have been released. Since then they have sunk another pile of R and D into the Rush. For all the millions they have spent they have not caught up to 'Doo or anyone else. If not for the many Pol faithful that have stuck with them since the glory days they wouldn't sell much at all. You think Pol parts are expensive go and purchase some Yami stuff. Go try to buy some 'Doo stuff. A lot of that is not even available. All of it is expensive. Always has been. Snowmobiling is not a cheap sport. You Pol guys are just lucky Pol has decided to keep on. It would be far easier to just say to heck with it.

Grub, That is alot to grab onto. In the interest to take this back to it's original intent I will restate the main purpose of the thread. I was not complaining that all of Polaris's parts are expensive. I was stating that "I thought" Polaris was way off base on thier price for a 2 square foot piece of seat fabric. That's all. I saw that one person wrote about buying a big seat cover and it came back in generic form. Since Polaris has made this 120 for quite a few years I would think they might have taken that approach with the seat skins. Maybe carry 2 years worth of colors and then "all black generic". Not for me to call so we'll leave it at that. My own preference is to buy from the brands unless they are unrealistic or someone has just made a better product. My local canvas shop is making a skin for me out of the same material for $30 installed. That kind of makes $200+ unrealistic in my book. BTW I recieved my order of 120 mini skis from Powdermadd and they are awesome. For all of you with 120's that have plastic skis that are beat up, the Powdermadd skis are 3X's what the manufactures have and are close to the same price. Definitely worth comparing.
