Lost mine Sunday on Winnebago. Lucky I was close to trailer. Bolt came completely out, probably from jumping, so a-arm looks good yet.

blu2u2- Stopped and ordered parts and talked to Rod. He put a call in to his Yamaha rep. Stay tuned, hear more wed or thurs.

I have a 09 XTX and received a recall letter last winter. I didn't take it back to the dealer till November. Jeff at Minoqua Yamaha put new Locktite on the bolts and all is good. Great sled, original hyfax (4,600m) on 3rd belt.(4stroke torque). Don't waist your money on upgrading your heaters. Put some spray foam in the grips and buy a pair of the Yamaha SOFT deflectors to put next to your stock hard Yamaha deflectors and your cold hand problem will be a no issue.

Was a update on the a-arm, but that was on the inside of the panels, not the top bolt of the a-arm!!! CHECK YOUR TOP BOLTS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Handwarmers- This varies quite a bit between sleds. Some were lukewarm others were stone cold, (mine). Of course everybody tolerance for cold hands is very different. Personally I wouldn't waste my time with messy foam for the very little you gain. could put cork around bars for better results but the best solution is the YAMAHEATER!! Bars will be warm before you take off.

Sliders do wear fast at first then stay there. Changed mine at 600 miles because I thought they were shot, wrong. Since I have 2400 miles on the same set. And that has been in some warm, low, and no snow conditions!!

found this on Yamaha's web site:

The reason for this recall: In affected vehicles, the front suspension’s right side upper A-arm bolt could come loose because it was initially tightened against a burr left on the bracket during manufacturing. The burr then collapses so the bolt is no longer tightened with proper torque. The bolt could then unthread from the securing nut on the frame, letting the rear part of the A-arm dislodge from its mounting position. If this happens, steering camber and caster would be adversely affected, causing poor steering characteristics that could lead to loss of control and an accident resulting in injury or death.

What Yamaha and your dealer will do: To correct this defect, your authorized Yamaha dealer will remove the right upper A-arm bolt, apply a retaining compound to its threads, and then reinstall and tighten to the proper torque. Your dealer will need to keep your FX Nytro for at least 24 hours to allow time for the thread-lock agent to cure properly, but your dealer may need to keep your snowmobile longer depending upon their schedule.

I believe that recall is for the a-arm bolt that goes to the frame,(the dealer did that one awhile ago).

Thats why Yamaha needs to let people know to check the top upper a-arm bolt that connects to the the spindle!!

So let me get this right. Instead of taking the A-arm off or apart to take off the burr, they are just going to put loctite on it and tighten it back down on the burr...what the heck kind of fix is that.

My call to the Customer Relations Department about a month ago prompted Yamaha to send me a Customer Service Survey. It appears my concerns fell on "deaf ears" at Yamaha so now I can let them know how satisfied I was with their lack of concern.

Am I wrong to think that this issue with the nut coming loose (on its own) and "egging" out the spindle is a problem ????

It is a problem imo due to the fact it's a safety hazard. Not because it repeatedly happens and the owner shouldn't have to pay for it, but due to the fact someone could get hurt.

I know it's a long shot, but try reporting to the BBB. Problem is that you'll need a series of similar complaints to get them to consider taking notice. It's unfortunate that large corporations can get away with ignoring issues like this amongst a select group of buyers.

I am glad that someone who is unbiased feels the same way thay I do.

It is one thing that if this had happened if I hit something...but to have it happen all on its own is the part that I would think Yamaha should be concerned with!

When this happend I could have easily hit a drift on the trail knocking the ski off causing me to go off into the trees!

Thanks!

Upper A-arm loose

I just read your post and thanks for the heads up to fellow Nytro riders. Have you or anyone experienced the upper A-arm getting loose. I had my sled on it's side, to change out the slides and noticed that when I grabbed the ski it was wiggling at where it mounts to the chassis. It appears that the bushing are wearing. The right side was a little worse then the left, but both are loose.

BBB is a voluntary organization. If you want to belong, you have to comply...or leave. NO teeth....

Here is what I posted before....

Actually the place to file a complaint is CPSC (consumer public saftey commission)

http://www.saferproducts.gov./

...In March this organization is going to begin publishing these complaints within weeks of getting the complaint, which up til now could be blocked by the corporation that makes the stuff.

Before buying anything, refer to this website to see if or how many complaints have been filed on the product you are about to purchase.

If enough guys complain, then Yamaha will do something, and when you are about to go buy this sled, you will see what others have had happen to them using it.

I my opinion, just like automotive applications, that bolt should have had thread sealant applied at the factory...bur or not...this would then, NOT be an issue.
