I'm the owner of an S-TX DX Sidewinder which has 718 miles so far. Facts, impressions, and opinions. Fuel mileage; high 15.2, low 12.3 average 13.7; about what I expected as I had a 2012 Cat turbo and averaged 14 with that. Ride and handling; have increased preload on front(ski) springs to improve steering, Tuner III skis work fine on hard packed trail, poor on soft snow or chewed up trail. Am still running stock carbides(4" on both inner and outer keel), not studded; 1.6 Cobra hooks very well for my type of riding. Will probably go to Stud Boy Shaper bars as they improved soft condition steering on my Skidoos and Cat. This is my first slide-action rear suspension as the Cat was an XF which at that time came only with the uncoupled mountain skid. It definitely is not as plush as an R-motion, but it feels pretty good so far. Performance; 200HP sure is fun! Acceleration is always available, even at 90mph(speedo, don't have a GPS), have seen 114 on groomed trail and believe it'll go faster. Comfort; stock windshield(Yamaha calls it "medium") is not high enough for my preferences, and the lip on the top edge creates annoying turbulence that blurs my vision from about 80 and up. Unfortunately the higher screen is not available for Sidewinders as it was found to be not strong enough for the top speed capabilities of the Sidewinder. I miss the multi level hand and thumb warmers that I became accustomed to on my last two Skidoos, particularly the thumb as Cat puts the heating element at the tip of the lever and I have my thumb closer to the base, resulting in a cold thumb. We won't even mention fit and finish cause it isn't even in the same league as Skidoo. And that leads up to my biggest complaint; I bought the S-TX DX because it comes standard with saddlebags, which attach to the seat and the standard equipment(Not accessory) tunnel bag. Unfortunately, Yamaha had "issues" with the tunnel bags, so they shipped the sleds without them, and still have not come up with one! Thus one cannot use the saddlebags and has absolutely no storage space to carry anything, including a spare belt. Unacceptable, in my opinion. It is obvious why Yamaha is number four in sales.
