Any reports on the Yami S/W??? Come on guys, we want to hear some reports!!! How they ride, handling, MPG, ride feel??? I realize there was a A/C 9000 thread, but it went dead. I would like to hear about the different clutching between the A/C, and the Yami. How's the Yami roller secondary perform???

There have been reports of some flat spots on the Yamaha roller secondary although we haven't seen it yet here. We have been properly torqueing some turbo mounting bolts that were not tightened enough from factory, so far no failures which is good. I received a report from one of our customers yesterday and he is seeing 15 MPG and it's not broken in yet so it may even get better. He's not a full throttle guy though. Overall reports from our customers has been great, no disappointed customers so far. Getting accessories has been difficult though.

Good to hear Kip. I know you moved some of them, so I thought we should be hearing how they are working out. Flat rollers??? Sounds like Doo, but in the new roller secondary??? SD E-Drive 2 2014/2015 had primary roller flat spot problems.

I heard they are a handful on demo rides.

He opens it up from time to time but just not often, I know what you're saying though. Yes, demo rides can be a issue! LOL!

Just to clarify, the demo ride oops was the fault of the trees, too many in the YOOP.

Also, a strange thing just happened in this thread. Say you were a first timer on the sight... who above based upon the responses is the dealer? Can't tell, right! Kip, thanks for the un-biased answers to Old Abe's question. I wish I had taken the time to demo ride a few weeks back, I suspect they are going to be around for a long time, maybe not like an Apex but close.

Getting accessories has been difficult though.

KIP....those of us that have been yamamahama riders in the past are acutely aware of their short comings....you don't buy accessories for a yamamahama....what you do is buy another yamadog....a newer version....then wait an entire season just for a part...then buy another yamamahama...and so on....never could figure out what takes them SOOOOOO LOOONG for parts or accessories....I am glad and sad....glad I left them and sad they found me again by conjoining with a real sled manu....dam the luck.....LOL

Got ya tracker. You're welcome bogiewheel. I understand Yamaha's shortcomings and will never be ashamed to point them out. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention they're heavier than the competitors!!! LOL! We'll get you on a demo ride next time bogiewheel!

I'm the owner of an S-TX DX Sidewinder which has 718 miles so far. Facts, impressions, and opinions. Fuel mileage; high 15.2, low 12.3 average 13.7; about what I expected as I had a 2012 Cat turbo and averaged 14 with that. Ride and handling; have increased preload on front(ski) springs to improve steering, Tuner III skis work fine on hard packed trail, poor on soft snow or chewed up trail. Am still running stock carbides(4" on both inner and outer keel), not studded; 1.6 Cobra hooks very well for my type of riding. Will probably go to Stud Boy Shaper bars as they improved soft condition steering on my Skidoos and Cat. This is my first slide-action rear suspension as the Cat was an XF which at that time came only with the uncoupled mountain skid. It definitely is not as plush as an R-motion, but it feels pretty good so far. Performance; 200HP sure is fun! Acceleration is always available, even at 90mph(speedo, don't have a GPS), have seen 114 on groomed trail and believe it'll go faster. Comfort; stock windshield(Yamaha calls it "medium") is not high enough for my preferences, and the lip on the top edge creates annoying turbulence that blurs my vision from about 80 and up. Unfortunately the higher screen is not available for Sidewinders as it was found to be not strong enough for the top speed capabilities of the Sidewinder. I miss the multi level hand and thumb warmers that I became accustomed to on my last two Skidoos, particularly the thumb as Cat puts the heating element at the tip of the lever and I have my thumb closer to the base, resulting in a cold thumb. We won't even mention fit and finish cause it isn't even in the same league as Skidoo. And that leads up to my biggest complaint; I bought the S-TX DX because it comes standard with saddlebags, which attach to the seat and the standard equipment(Not accessory) tunnel bag. Unfortunately, Yamaha had "issues" with the tunnel bags, so they shipped the sleds without them, and still have not come up with one! Thus one cannot use the saddlebags and has absolutely no storage space to carry anything, including a spare belt. Unacceptable, in my opinion. It is obvious why Yamaha is number four in sales.

I have an X-TX SE. 425 miles so far. Mileage so far, about 15 mpg. The handling is by far the best I have ever experienced on a Yamaha sled. The Tuner III skis are the best stock skis I have experienced on a Yamaha. The track provides great hook up on any snow condition. I have mine adjusted to me and the ride has been really good. The power is unlike any sled I have ridden. I am a pretty solid guy and that sled just pulls and jumps at 3/4 throttle. Yeah, the windshield, we tend to call the stock ones trail permit holders. I upgraded to the medium height and is sufficient without any concerns. My machine has more than one heat setting for the thumb and handle bar warmers. No complaints. The fit and finish on this sled has been second to none. It only takes two swivel bars to drop open a side panel instead of unscrewing six different body panel screws like before. NICE. I feel that is one of Yamaha's strong sled building traits. My biggest issue right now is the lack of availability of parts. I am in dire need of some OEM parts, and my local dealer does not even have access to parts micro fiche for the 2017s except for the MTX. You are kidding right? I would think that this would be a standard part of the release of the product to market. Happy Sled owner, but not happy about lack of parts and information at this point.

Funny responses here! I'm sure the OP gets the joke. There's quite a bit of info over at ty4stroke.com. I was just looking at it the other day, dreaming :)

What do you think is the cause and solution for flat spots on secondary rollers? Just too much power for belt tech.. slipping or strecthing? Seems the doo 850 is having simular flat spots... so I'm thinking maybe the hp thresholds are being approached for prior clutch & belt tech. I'm sure there is a solution just wondering what it is?

Seems as though the clutch parts have gone the cheap direction by many of the sled makers. Replacement parts by outside vendors are of much higher quality. Just make sure you match the correct part.
