Indy don't read too good do you? I said B4 January, (WI) but not always the case.
Used to ride all the time in Mercer/Hurley between Xmas and NY but too many idiots, washed out trails and spotty grooming changed that.
BOT your 1st new sled this year? Been buying new since '93 and I don't subject my equipment to crap conditions.
Didn't even have to advertise my Yam this year, it sold at a dinner because buyers know perfect shape. Works for me don't care what anyone else does.

"VERY doubtful" is my reply to your first sentence (but one can hope) and to sentence #2 I ask; where was it in Vilas Cty. last year that they officially opened early?

I don't remember exact dates but all of Vilas opened early last December except Phelps they blew the county inspection date that I remember dearly kept me locked in while rest of county was ridin trails.lol It was again a case of open or stay closed due to black powder deer hunting but Clubs & county said screw it we have snow lets open & they did....again except Phelps....lol.... I already shook the Phelps town chairman tree to have ****e flow down hill to not miss the 12th opener but Vilas big money probably talking now & may pull the trigger on the 1st or there about if clubs say lets go. Trail opener date is all about the clubs & landowners and of course big money.... DNR can only advise regarding activity sharing but they know black powder in these conditions won't kill many deer so I'm thinking opener will get moved up from 12th. Vilas is very quiet about an opening date so far also makes me think nothing set in stone at this time. Just to be clear I have no problem giving deer hunters the forest for rifle deer hunting.....their time to enjoy what they do. IMO staying closed for 12 days of black powder seems dumb & a huge revenue loser for the county & state.

As a lifelong snowmobiler, not a snowmobile rider, ( there is a difference) I only ask that you all just make sure you are riding legally. It is early and many want to scratch that itch, just be patient and ride legally. Many of us go through a lot of work so you can ride. Don't ruin it because you couldn't wait another couple weeks. If you can ride legally now, more power to you. If you can't ride legally now, please patiently stay home.

I just got back from a 55 mile round trip to Toivola and back, there are no crap conditions at all. I always gauge early condition on how the trail is by the adventure mine because that small section of trail has huge rocks but it's amazing that the base is solid with this early system snow. We hit no rocks and rode in 15" of powder with a some tracks through,,thanks Indy!,,,,lol. My buddy Steve let me ride his wife's Cat turbo and dang is that a sweet sled. There are no mud holes or problems at all. Now come Dec 1, you will experience the water and mud holes in the non grade trail. Tonight was a blast and I finally was able to get a good scratch at the itch. Prediction of 8-12 for Tues, will keep you guys posted.

Fusion, snowbuilder, lets call a truce guys and unite on a common theme, we all love snow and love to ride. Sorry for the harsh sarcasm!

now that's a voice of reason, thanks! Tonight at the bug bar Don and Donna said the DNR was having problem and chasing people riding where they shouldn't, winter wheat and other spots. Steve and I just cruised down the grade packing the base. Our club encourages us to ride and pack the base so when the groomer goes out he encounters somewhat already base helping to freeze up wet areas and the sort.

Hey there, I see your from marathon Wi, Do you know if there is a wood pellet manufacturer in your county. I have been buying "lumberjack'" wood pellets and the bag says make in marathon Wi, and my suppliers will no longer be carrying that brand but I do like them. May be looking for new supplier but distance is an issue when you buy 2 tons at a time. I was just wondering if maybe pellets are cheaper by you if the make theme right there?

If I had bought a new poo, I'd want to get out as early as possibly to blow the motor so the shop had time to rebuild it before Dec. 1 too.

 kidding...Nice sled, just hope i can make a trip UP this season. We just got our official 1st coating today, 1/2". The kids re our pulling each other on sleds.
