Yeah, I've done that. Works ok if going during rush hour. Most of the time we're driving up it's later at night so no issues, but Chicago is almost always a headache on the way back.

Then take I39 I got caught N bound on NW tollway sat there didn't move for an hour have to be in left lane with trailer & semis speed limt is 45mph for like 35 miles of construction. There was no other way for me so had to take the construction route can't see it getting better in winter so bypass it if you can!

all lies dont believe it!! lodging always full never never snow no bars or food in the area no off trail to be had at all more police than u can shake a stick at just stay in the UP

Good One! It didn't sound quite right and then I checked the source.

Have had some great riding in northern WI and U.P. but I have to go with northern/northeastern MN as well, for all of the reasons Chilly mentioned. I'm fortunate in that it's not a very long drive and doesn't empty the piggy bank to take a trip up there.

In the Favorite Trails thread someone listed "The Swamper", a section of trail up towards the Gunflint. Really fun trail to ride but it must be quite the challenge to groom.

Hayward, Wisconsin for me. Love the mix of woods, lakes and fire roads.

Plus I feel they have some of the best places to stop for food/drinks.

cough cough, I meant to say HOUGHTON MI. Yes, HOUGHTON/HANCOCK. EVERYONE GO THERE. It's snowing there right now as we speak. ;)

So you're saying it's really a whole lot of traffic with off-trail wannabees, where everyone stands up the whole time while they ride on the trail and wears backpacks and loves Monster drinks.

I'm with Ezra. No snow, beer is warm, you should all stay away from the North Shore area!

North Eastern UP. Can't. Beat the trails and lower than normal traffic. Just picked up a new non-current 2012 Ski Doo 800R E-TEC Renegade Adrenaline and can't wait for the snow to start coming down. That area of The UP picked up over 220 inches of white gold last winter and they they are predicting an above average snow fall again this winter. Bring it on baby!!!!
