Mixing two types of 2 cycle oil

Need to know if I can mix two different types of oil. Currently have the oil reservoir full of AC APV but plan on switching to Amsoil. Can I mix them? Normally add at every fueling so it would be a 50/50 mix after one tank. BTW, I have no plans to turn this into another " which oil is better" thread!!! Got that memo a couple days ago.....

I would run the oil down and then fill it with amsoil and you will be good to go.

What,you getting advertising royalties from Klotz?? Actually my biggest concern is mixing standard oil with synthetic. Not a big fan of running it down but will if I have to. Does the oil mix or will it stratify? And if it does what would it hurt?

It would appear this was lost on some.

You SHOULD be okay mixing (assuming AC APV is synthetic or semi-synthetic), but if you want to either run it down or pump it out and refill it with your Amsoil, that's probably the safest bet. Just don't empty it so much that you get air in your oil lines.

I would run it down or pump it out. I always run it down to the fill line to switchover. Never an issue. I am running Poo blue for break in (one oil tank) then going to Poo VES for 3 gallons and then to Amsoil Interceptor for balance of sled ownership. Got 12,000 no issue miles on 3the different sleds this way. One has 18,800 miles on it. Not sure if oil or preventive maint. Or both.

Pour & go no problem & no need to run down oil tank. My buddy took his & my oil left overs poured into 1 gallon container shook up poured in his sled & rode. No probelms just poor & go.

Run it as low as you possible can and then make the switch. AMSOIL Interceptor is compatible with most mineral and synthetic two-cycle oils, however, for best performance, mixing oils should be minimized.

The problem with mixing oils is that you are playing chemist and you don't know what concoction you might end up with so it should be keep to a minimum to realize the full benefits of using a premium oil.

I have switched all my sleds from apv to interceptor, just pour and go they are both full synthetic and seem to mix fine. If it didn't work one of my five sleds would have blown up. IMO

I agree no risk mixing oil just an urban myth pour & enjoy the ride.

Indy must be getting more free sticker form Klotz than Amsoil now a days!

There was a thread on Dootalk about this, and the Skiddoo Techs said never mix oils in the ETEC's.
I just ran mine down and sucked out the rest. I was not really worried about the little bit in the line.

I've just poured and went with no problems. You're mixing a better oil with your old oil. I can't imagine that there would be some kind of chemical reaction that would destroy your motor. The old man says; amsoil mixes with everything.

my first sled a 99 mxz 600 which i still have has 10200 miles on it and i've used prolly 4-5 different kinds of oils, and have never ever ever had a problem. i was at a gas station once that only sold some polaris oil so i needed it and bit my tongue and bought it. no problems.

Time will tell on the Etec but i think it is just a bunch of hype on the doo oil they have always pushed real hard for people to run Doo oil in the Doo,s.

Even if oils dont mix well (which is a ridiculous assumption) both new and old oil run fine, how would someone think that together the oils will hurt their sled? Plus enough with skidoos can only run manufacter oil. They arent any different than any other sled.
