My experience on the new signs

I always thought that's what all those trees were for. You just have to factor in the wind direction, or not...

I don't agree with that!!... fogging shields & glasses are part of my day & every sign helps when that happens. Fogging comes & goes & gets worse if I stop so I keep right on riding & signs do help. If you are riding out there with 20/20 vision 100% of the time then you need to rethink your statement because that has never happend for me in my 30 years or so of riding. lol Get real snow dust & fogging all a part of a days ride & signs do help to let you know what is coming up regardless of speed.

Holy crap. Time to rethink your equipment. NO SIGN is going to help that issue.

If you ride fast it's you're responsibility to make sure you are I control of your machine. I like to ride fast but not out of my side of the trail. That being said does this make me Ricky racer no. If your going to fast a blow a corner it's because your not in control if your sled. Ricky racer can't control his sled going fast some good trail riders can and I don't mean taking a 90 degree at 70. That's a ideot Trails sings show you the obvious the rest is up to the rider. Use your head Imho

Done that now inprocess of testing all fog elimination formulas out there to give me an edge. Carry 2 BRP masks & change inserts frequently. Just the way it is for me so signs do help. Never ever going to be optimum sight conditions for anyone riding so we all make the best of prevailing conditions. For me I did have 20-20 vision for a long time but don't now so keep on keeping on. As one gets older you consider more angles to topics because you have experience that the younger riders don't have. So if you are 25 or older get ready all down hill from 25. lol Ricky Racer, Ma & Pa, the kids & old farts like me all enjoy trail riding & use signs to the best of their ability. You can't process the information if it is not there simple as that & you ride by what you think you see. Blowing turns happens most when no signs & your eyes & brain are telling you go straight & you see tracks going straight so you go straight then at last second "YIKES " hard left hairpin turn where trail really goes & you correct & in bushes. Actually you are better to blow turn & run it out then turnaround but your instincts take over in that split second to STAY ON TRAIL! This year if no sign & straight run out I will program to stay straight since one should exspect a curve sign may not be there. Will I ride faster or slower on average probably slower until I get comfortable with trails & sign markings then will let her rip. Difference with Ricky & me Rickey doesn't care he will always ride every trail like a race track then I will pull up on him a few minutes later while he is taking a blow with his buddies & then repeat the process. Lack of signs will never slow Ricky down just will never happen the more beers Ricky consumes the less he cares about anything. From my perspective I need to be more alert for Ricky than ever before & so far so good for me. Unfortunatley not so good for Venture North Ricky ran him off trail last year & wrecked his sled now Venture North is a renter. What really bugged me is Rickey didn't come back to see if Venture North was OK. So to me any & every sign helps & you are kidding yourself if you don't think they help you & other riders as well. Just ingnor all the signs out there & let me know how that worked for ya? lol :)

The Signs seemed fine to me except no one from the Iron River Club bothers to open any of the Gates. I think they should have Gate ahead Signs south of Kenton and Sidnaw. Or Post the Trails closed at the Intersections.

If they were fine I wouldn't have gotten lost a countless number of times. We also ran into 4 closed gates. Just gotta put on your pf flyers and jump over them!

I just got back from my first trip to the UP. And while it is quite a bit different from riding Wisconsin I didnt miss a single turn for lack of signage even with my 15 year old sled and crappy helmet. I did however think that some trails lacked markers for novices to the area to follow the trails. I got turned around a couple times just because a trail would split and there wouldnt be much indication as to which way the actual trail went. Also, the lack of information at intersections about what food/gas is in a certain direction and/or distances makes it a bit hard to plan as you go. I dont usually set out in the morning with a definite plan of my days travels.

heated shield!!!

Visor has not fogged just glasses. Considered heated shield this year then backed away since my BRP modular shield /visor has not fogged. If heated shield has helped anyone with fogging glasses the I would purchase but so far no one has said this helped fogging glasses including electric shield dealers.

Rode 8 from my place in Negaunee to Gwinn, Chatam, Munising and back. Rode 8 thru Ishpeming out to Moose Mtn. and back to 5 to 14 to Big Bay 14 down CR510/14 back to my house. 400 miles of trail and all the 90's and intersections had proper signage. Works well for those that ride the trail and not from sign to sign. IMO

I have a buddy that uses a helmet with a heated shield and he says it helps with his glasses just enough. I too have thought about getting it as I'm in the same boat as you.

Get lasik eye surgery, end of problem! I did it many years ago and it's wonderful. No more glasses, I can see the alarm clock at night etc. etc. It does not take care of normal aging of the eyes and it won't be long and I will need reading glasses, but that won't affect sledding. If that's not an option, try contacts.

His heated shield helps keep his eye glasses from fogging too?

Mark I can see alarm clock even read with my left eye but I have cataracts now so will have surgery before next season but I didn't want to miss any riding this year.lol Glasses still bring me to 20-20 with new s lens for riding & would be fine if fogging was not an issue. Tried contacts years ago & I could see like when I was a kid but could not put the dang things in my eye to save my life. Doc said many people have same problem with putting contacts in & just not for me.

Rode Lewiston to Atlanta and then on to Canada creek last weekend and didnt remember that there was a change in signage until my way back. After I started to pay attention to any changes it didnt really feel any different than in the past. I guess there were fewer signs but it didnt affect my driving ability in anyway as I am just a "cruizer".
