Yamaha Brand Identification

I have owned all the brands over the years but Yamaha suits me best now for trail riding groomed trails & unplowed FRs in WI & UPMI. The interesting characteristic is I have found a good bunch of riding buddies thru JD just because of the Yamaha brand. Don't get me wrong we will ride with any brand just has evolved to 99% Yamaha owners. Is this a JD member thing or a Yamaha brand identification thing?

I got rid of my Yami...and ride a cat now...lol...and I would ride either yami or cat...both have their pluses...I do think alot of us yami riders are more of the "trail veterans" (old farts)...we went four stroke, because we'd rather ride than wrench..and have done enough wrenching to span a lifetime.
Some would say we got lazy....for me...I just plain got tired of blown engines, and cleaning power valves...yet here I go again with another two stroke...lol...I guess I am a glutten for punishment.

Pete...I think we both left ski-doo around the same time, and had a similar mind set, after both having bad experiences with that brand.

True 800 meltdowns with skidoo put me in the lap of Yamaha no doubt about how I got here.lol But buds I met on JD were Yamaha lifers seemed to have interest in riding with me because I do ride Yamaha as well. Didn't think about it much until now but 1 on doo 3 on Yams & the 1 on doo thinking about buying a Viper.

Honestly, I had no clue you had an Attak when I rode with you. In fact, I think when I trailered to your house that was my maiden voyage on my new XTX which replaced my 2007 Attak. I personally don't care "what" they ride... but "how" they ride ...knowing they won't be breaking down on the trail is a nice plus however....

Watch the old fart trail riding comments. I resemble that description and will enjoy this year cruising the trails on my vector. There is enough room for all kinds of riding and wrenching. BTW, I love the Tomahawk area also.

Enjoy!

Like we are going to believe that? Blue Koolaid stains all the way thru.

I'm riding a cat this year....but I have nothing bad to say about yamaha...I had 13,800 miles on my attak...and the engine, and clutches were perfect...can you say the same about your polaris??

some Poo owners are highly competitive,,,like wayne. They have contests and are proud of the number of meltdowns. I know a poo with 3 meltdowns and still under 2000 miles. Here's the real kicker, when the poo goes blewey you sling it over your back and carry it home and you cant carry your Yammi on your back so you buy what you can carry.

seriously, we all identify with brands in some way and for many it's the dealer (my reason for Yam.) I ride with a crew where all brands are represented, we all have a blast and have had good luck, you just need a tow truck if a yammi blows.

Why yes I can! My brother in law is riding my 01 XCSP with 18,800 trouble free miles on it (3 tracks due to under studding pull threws). My kids old 98 440 fan cooled two up has 23,000 miles on it. one voltage regulator. My old 06 Renegade with over 10,000 miles on it with one relay replaced and a new battery. My daughters 99 340 poo with 12,300 miles on it. Hyfax and skis's from riding it in the summer also. The three Polaris sleds combined cost about what you paid for one sled. I have absolutely nothing against Yamaha other then they weigh to much, cost to much, suspensions are known to be less comfy then other makes, and There 4 strokes are percieved as geriatric sleds by many. Would I trail ride one, sure as long as it isn't lime green or road construction orange. I do like the no oil expense and reliability they offer. Keep in mind Yamaha is not a magician. My Briggs and Stratton in my 1985 Wheel horse Garden tractor has millions of miles on it, along with the miles on my Tecumseh push mower. 4 strokes are not new technology. Call me when your 4 stroker has the mileage of most my fleet trucks that are beat daily, many with 248,000 miles plus on those Chevy 350's.

Know keep in mind, my Polaris is purpose built. I can follow you anywhere you take your sled, can you do the same with your sled following me?

Looks like nobody is working today! When (if) she blows, Lenny will get a certified letter from me. I do like the looks of the blue Yamicat.
