2009 Summit X 800. Motor rebuilt by dealer last year. Around 3000 miles total. Haven't bought or sold a sled in years. What could I expect to get out of this?

less than u would think . it is crazy what some of the sleds In classifieds are priced at and still not selling . makes me sad. lets put it this way if I wanted to actually sell my 14M8 It look like it would have to be about 6300 bucks with just under 1500mi.
not sure the yr but last yr of the 800carb in the doo 800 summit is still sitting at a buds shop with a brand new crate motor I think they had it at 4 g last winter.
if we get a early winter then game on prices with shoot way up

2 tings...one is not enough info as you will see how you need to list it as you peruse the choices on KBB....I use this guide

http://www.kbb.com/snowmobile/

then....never mention a motor rebuild...even if your proud of one like it sounds you are....there is simply NO REASON EVER to rebuild a motor....its says volumes about how you take care of it and what oil and gas you use.....****ty I assume from the rebuild....and it also says volumes about the manufacturer....a person thinks....3000 miles....that's it...and a rebuild already....no thanks....most serious used/new sled buyers put on OVER 3000 miles in one season....that means if I buy this used one....guess I can be prepared to rebuild the motor in march....no thanks again....just my 2c

PS....in case your thinking of reaming me....I own 11 sleds currently....the lowest mileage on one is around 8500.....2 have 25,000...one I currently ride has 22,000....the rest have like 13,000....no motor rebuilds....on any of them....all due to premium gas only and good oil....and this is key....warming up the engine before riding...and an easy break in when new....that ride it like ya stole phrase....has motor rebuild all over it....and yes....I have over 100,000 miles on machines....just an FYI not a dig

No offence taken at all. I want opinions.

Jeez this tracker guy puts on miles like Nick Keller. In Indiana no less... Chit happens. I got a new motor and the old one was running just fine. ring gear came off clutch and gouged up the block. My GREAT dealer got me a new motor out of that just because of cosmetics. Oh and KBB not even close. Bud just got 8900 for 16 pro x 800. KBB says 7510....

Don't want to start a great debate but off trail riding is completely different animal and can be much harder on equipment. Motor didn't blow just got a low on compression on one side. Just wanted to get some thoughts. Sled I want is $5500. I need to keep the difference as close to $1000 as possible or I just can't swing it. Thus the original question

deff let them know it was a rebuild or crate motor. every one that knows just a little about 800doo pre E tec knows they are time bombs. only a fool buys a p teck with 3k on it with out a new crank in it .
also as u know mountain mi and trail mi are not the same thing as do the people looking at buying a summit .the new motor is a good thing

Going two feet off topic here but the crank comment has me thinking about three cylinder Arctic-Cat 800's from back in the day. Any of these sleds for sale almost always guaranteed the new owner a engine rebuild due to bad crank bearings etc. Ah, history

I can't value your sled but I have been shopping for a newer sled for about 2 months. Seems to be a lot of leftovers from 2016 still floating around and their prices have been dropped substantially, hence driving your (and my) used sled prices even further. There's good deals to be had for leftovers 16 sleds.

Wow 8900 for a 16 pro-x. that has to hurt. prolly paid over 13 for that.

IMO, 4000 low end, 4500 high end. Depends on condition.

A friend of mine had 5900 miles on his 09 summit orginal pistons and got 4500 for it, kinda shocked as it is ready for a rebuild. it did come with a bunch of extras.

Sled looks to be in great shape. If you wait til the air gets cold and snow starts coming down you may get 5k. I think you should be able to fetch 4500 without issue. Guys still asking 4500 for Revs with 5k miles! ;)
