Push it off on a family member- that's how I sold my last one...haha

That being said, I've always had good luck with craigslist.

lol after the last few yrs your best bet would be to push it out to the curb with a free sign .

1st choice is usually trade it in if dealer will give you a fair price because then you can save some $$ in taxes & you don't have to worry about messing around with selling it outright but if the dealer doesn't want your trade-in or the price is too low then craigslist has worked well for me over the years.

Craigslist and best success so far is the Belvedere IL swap meet. Grayslake was a good one as well back in the day.

I use the 'hand-me-down' method lol. Two years ago, on the way up to the Yoop, I had joked that I might be coming home with a new sled. Well, sure enough, I ended up cracking an A-arm and it was going to take four days to get a new one, and the trip would have been over by the time it was fixed. So, I bought a new ride at the dealer. The dealer offered a fair trade-in amount but not near what I could sell it for on Craigslist or other classifieds. So I offered it to one of the newer, younger guys in our group for more than what the dealer would give me, but less than what I would have had it advertised. He was a ready-made buyer on the spot and it turned out to be a win-win for everybody.

I had mine on Craigslist and here. I must have had the price way to high but I didn't get any serious buyers. I'm putting that more on the past couple winter conditions in ND and MN than any of the sites used. Sold and bought sleds off Craigslist with great success previously.

I am probably more curious of how many trade in at dealer and thought they did okay. I can’t remember but can somebody confirm you don’t pay sales tax on the value of your snowmobile trade in only on the price difference like a car?

I have actually sold my last 5 sleds to friends, few before that sold with ease on craigslist.

The tax part is true... but the 2 sleds I was quoted trade in on were a 2008 rmk 600 155. Quoted 2000 sold myself for 4000 and a 2015 rmk 800 le 155 quoted 5500-6000 sold myself for 8300.

HaHa....now I never said I don't beat them to shazz...I do...huge miles too....but then I inject on an average aboot 2 grand in them for some more afterlife....one thing I NEVER understand though....I haven't rebuilt a motor in maybe 15 years or more...don't see how they tweak the motors so often...I have aboot 5 sleds with 20,000 miles and maybe 5 with 10,000 miles....all run and are ready to rock now

I live in Iowa & we have to pay sales tax on new & used sleds so the last time when I traded mine into Kip I only paid the difference back in Iowa. Maybe that is what Indy meant when he said "the tax part is true"? I wasn't sure since he responded to a comment stating one doesn't have to pay sales tax like a car.

You don't have to pay sales tax on your trade in value, just the difference... same goes for just about anything you purchase from a dealer that gets titled.
