What carbides on C&A skis?

At Wide Open Wisconsin Show I purchased a set of C&A Pro skis, with the 1" gunnel running the length of ski and I call them fins near the outside of skis, how much carbide are guys running on these skis? I am coming from using sno-trackers 8" aggressive, I have a 137 and do not use traction products of any sort and do not plan on any either. I went with C&A hoping thew will help in the loose lake effect snows I seem to get caught in when I ride in the eastern U.P. the last few years. Talking not only to the people at the C&A booth and the Stud Boy booth they recommended no more than 6". Just curious if anyone runs these skis and what they are using? with the 1" gunnel and I'm not sure if sno-trackers even make runners for this ski anyways, I will not be using them anymore.

in my opinion, I would not use shaper bars. The host bar is made of a very soft metal, once you chip the leading carbide from a rock or something, the individual sections of carbide will be gone in extremely short order, and the host bar is all that is left. The host bar will wear away within a few turns, as it seams. A few friends have ruined a nice pair of skis due to this. I like the good and ugly from Bergstrom, not as expensive as the triple points, but uses the same single carbide.

6” stud boy shaper bars if un studded. 7.5” if studded

Scott, 6" is exactly what the studboy and C&A guys said, they did not point out any specific bar but that length was common between them both.

Dirty70Firebird: , interesting about host bar, I have freinds that have burnt through skis because of what you said, is it because of how many cuts they make into the bar making host bar shorter lived? I will also look at the "good and ugly" I'm coming from years of doolys and sno-trackers but dont see a need for either on the C&A
