    Oldest snowmobile item you own

Nope. Totaled it on trail 417 between Marquette and Munising on new years eve 1979/1980 when the trail was still a rail line (trying to rundown a drunk driver). I did get a another in 1982 but blew a piston ~1988 and gave it to my brother’s neighbor, who then moved to northern WI.

    Heated gloves?

I use First Gear heated glove liners. They are considered for motorcycles and First Gear has socks, coat liners, etc that can all tie together. These run off the sled. The benefit is my outer gloves can be replaced but the liners have lasted for over 10 years.

    Eastern UP help

All great detail by Workhardplayhrd (I wonder how many times we passed each other?). I would add stopping in Big Bay at the Thunder Inn where they have allot of detail on the movie “Anatomy of a Murder” that was made there in the 50’s. (The Rolling Stones manager lived in the area until he...

    Oldest snowmobile item you own

What is the oldest item you still own related to your snowmobile life? For me it is these boots. They are now 54 years old. Got them when I was 11 and my parents let us boys rent a Homelite snowmobile. I was hooked and have been riding ever since. These boots have been with me through high...

    Eastern UP help

Look at the MI DNR maps online. These will show closed trails and breaks (Escanaba). I have known several people attempt Escanaba but the maps are correct that there are no designated connectors. I suggest you head towards Republic then on to Big Bay. Big Bay down to Marquette (trail 5 up to...

    Building / Shop advice

Glad you thought about it. Now I get why so large. So will you get your own zip code 😁. Look into your area on whether heat, water will be considered a “livable” structure for real estate purposes. In my township I am allowed electric but heat or water they would declare and tax as a 7,200 sq ft...

    Building / Shop advice

If I understand it correctly you will have a 60’ wide barn? If you use a 14’ wide door, that will leave 46’(likely 44’ usable) - roughly 23’ on each side of the door to store. Think of the angle of attack you need to point a trailer or vehicle to get it to the wall. Since tandem axle trailers do...

    Building / Shop advice

Biggest thing in my book is consider how you will load items in. Ex: my pontoon is on a tandem axle trailer all in over 26’ of the 40’ length. The kicker is tandem axles do not like to pivot very well so it can be a number of rolling back and forths to snug it up to an outside wall. I did put in...

    Electric Snowmobile

The California ban looming seems a bit harsh but that is California. Many states out west have been under different water restrictions for 20 years or so and there aren’t the lawns/yards we enjoy in the midwest. Sadly all those mowers and blowers will go where? Landfill? Kind of a dumb approach...

    Electric Snowmobile

So the entire hotel and restaurant industry would need to overhaul their electrical grid to accommodate many sleds and vehicles being plugged in at one time. And how would that work stopping at a restarant/bar and that group that camps out drinking all day, “sir, you need to move your sled”. My...

    The Namesake

Good to hear you are on the mend. Do consider something like the Garmin 66i. Mine is programed to allow certain people to be able to track me on the internet. If I am not moving they will know. I wonder if they could link it to “Apple watch” that could send an alert when your vitals hit a issue?

    F-350 leveling kit

Consider calling 8lugtruckgear.com. George is extremely knowledgeable about all domestic trucks and their weak & strong points (gas & diesel). He saved me from wasting $ on what others recommended and didn’t oversell any product. Besides he is a big snowmobiler!

    Microsoft advice

Bummer. I feel your pain. I have a old PC that cannot get updates or it would hemorrhage so I shutoff wireless. Do you have any other PC’s that he could use to access his Microsoft account and ask for recovery by email vs phone text (however I do recall you saying they locked it for 30 days...

    Microsoft advice

Just trying to understand what is the problem. Is it the underlying “operating system” or is it “software” like Word or Excel or Powerpoint? If it is Microsoft software is it Office 2019 or Office 365 that is where his documents are locked? Are his documents in the PC or the ”cloud”?

    Now what do I do?

So my grandpa had the oddity from birth where his ring finger grew as long as his middle. Not sure if gloves accommodate that extra length. John, maybe you could turn it into a Pez dispenser 😉

    Tire Recommendations - F350

I ran Firestones on my F350 diesels and Excursions. Usually saw more than 60k miles before the tread was sketchy in the winter. Whatever you get, check the build date on the tires before they put them on. I have seen some already a year old.
