    Who is open ?

pclark, Hitting the road from Park Ridge to Presque Isle shortly. A little worried that we may not be able to get to the trail from our cabin as the town road is probably down to gravel/asphalt. Hope for snow by mid to end of week. Enjoy the sunshine/vacation.

    The Big Game is Tomorrow

Being that the Packers are not there, it is almost kind of nice to not care who wins. Philly has a lot of beasts that will make it a little difficult for Mahomes to work his magic. Both Hurts and Mahomes are bright stars of the future for the NFL. I think KC pulls a victory but it will be a...

    Who is open ?

Don't know if you are aware pclark but Anglers is for sale and had a serious "potential" buyer have a look a few weeks ago when we were in for lunch. Hate to lose current owner because they do a nice job. Would be even worse if they just do a Skyview and close the doors and disappear.

More Black Eyes on the Sport

This one is getting a little intense. As someone further up the thread said, A few bad apples.....Snowmobiling is really no different than anything else in life that someone wants to start a crusade against and unfortunately, recent negative press about the speed, trespassing, and deaths give...

    Biggest year in modern snowmobiling

I will join the majority and say 2003 Skidoo. Saw the rider forward as a game and comfort changer and I went out and bought 2 MXZ's. A 600 for my wife with the optional 2 up seat for the kids and an 800 for myself. We still have both of them and use as reserve and guest sleds. 20 year old sleds...

    Oh Bad Luck

I received a call this morning from a friend up on Gogebic that a "real genius" thought it would be fun to chase a group of deer with his snowmobile on Gogebic yesterday right in front of a full house of patrons at Gogebic Lodge. I give the crowd credit for not taking matters into their own...

2 Dead in Vilas Co... Thursday

pclark, I was thinking the same thing. We are heading back to PI from Chicago on the 12th and hopefully staying 2-3 weeks depending on the snow and trail conditions. I'm a little worried looking at forecast as I see you guys are going to be near 40 up there on Tuesday/Wednesday with sunshine and...

2 Dead in Vilas Co... Thursday

Awful, sad story old abe and something I have worried about since the late 80's when I brought my then fiancé, now wife up to northern Wisconsin for her first rides. When the kids came along, they were harnessed to us and that was another worry. When my daughter was big enough she sat in front...

2 Dead in Vilas Co... Thursday

Completely agree. I am also the one who pulls over and lets a group pass. Most of our rides are with a group of 4 or 5 sleds. I will usually lead and my son takes the rear. Every time I see headlights behind him I just pull over. Numerous times this season he was all bent out of shape because...

    Gogebic Fatalities

Sad news out of Gogebic County for the last week. 2 fatalities. First one was a male on the Ramsay re-route around the ski hill property. Only details I know is that he fell off of his sled and was run over by his companion who then crashed and broke his leg. Second was last night in Marenisco...

Off trail riding on the local news

Correct Tim. Just talked with a Michigan DNR officer. 17 years old, no snowmobile safety certificate required.

    Oneida Fatality

Not looking to spar with you whitedust and as I said, I was sorry to hear of another death and would extend condolences to the family if I knew them. I don't mean to disrespect a fatality topic but when the DNR investigation is complete, riding style, ie. speed, is exactly what this unnecessary...

    Oneida Fatality

My wife was checking WUPN and Facebook this morning and saw something about another Oneida fatality over the weekend. I did not see the story and was surprised when I signed on to this forum today that there is no talk of this yet. 40 something year old male overtaking another sled on the trail...

Caution Driving South of Watersmeet On Interstates

I got stuck in both of those crashes yesterday in southern Wisconsin. Left Presque Isle 10 am. Snow all the way to Wausau. Roads got better south 51 to Portage . Got a call from a friend in Chicago asking where we were at. I was in Madison and he told me 40-50 car pile-up on 39/90 N/B in...

    Who is open ?

Took a short ride yesterday to MW from PI to get lunch and found Shillelagh to be closed so I thought I would start this thread for local information. Please add to it with any info you may have. Ran into some riders from Boulder Jct. who said not a single place open to get lunch or a beer there...

Off trail riding on the local news

A lot of great ideas here but the best way to correct the problem is strict and aggressive enforcement of the loud pipes, no registration, no trail permit, riding off trail and OWI. I get it. Everyone is shorthanded and has financial constraints including DNR law enforcement. Other than last...

    Interesting Observation

We have been out on the trails every day for almost two weeks except for last Friday and I found it somewhat interesting that I see more sleds parked at the bars and restaurants then I see on the trails. Last Thursday we did a loop from Presque Isle to Boulder Jct. to Manitowish Waters to...

SE WI - Walworth - Waukesha - Racine - Kenosha - Jefferson Counties

Great Lakes Dragaway brings back some great memories of Friday/Saturday nights when I was in high school. Do they still do a grudge race night in summer?
