The Cozy Inn nice little restaurant on trail 8 in Nestoria big wood burner always going with excellent food and friendly people. Just don’t hang you jacket and bibs too close to the stove it will melt them.

Foothills in Silver City was great in the 90s 100 sleds out front were fun to browse before we went in to eat steaks were excellent.

Vilas is all or nothing for open and I don’t see it for this week. I think at best we can do is take it week by week and hope for the best but a big thank you to all that contributed to area conditions since we are all blind without JD Forecasts. 👍

It’s been along time that the WI Northwoods didn’t have a white Xmas. Snowmobile renters don’t need much snow to ride bar to bar and have a great time. This is going to hurt biz for sure😞

I know what sources to use for local weather but no idea for UP and northern WI. What links are you using?

Menards discontinued their traditional 11% discount in December and usually don’t bring it back until 3rd week of January. 12% for 12 days on everything indicates Xmas sales weren’t good

New battery , new carbides and preseason check complete. All I need is snow somewhere in WI or UP. Dealer was loaded with sleds on the floor and crates in the parking lot. I was the only customer in the 2 hours I was there so I was wondering if anyone else was good to go?

Good question. I remember 1 or 2 years in Vilas out of 16 good conditions didn’t come together until February. Then we rode almost every day to make up for late start. It wasn’t all that warm just didn’t snow much.

I used a high efficiency fireplace insert in our open kitchen/living room /dining room area. We had a LP furnace with 1000 gallon tank but kept the insert going 24/7 especially on -25 weeks. Something about wood heat that takes the chill off maybe because I would get close heat up my clothes...

A lot of progress good to be inside and warm. Electrical wiring not difficult just need to not let your mind wander and tag wires correctly mark your fuse panel correctly. No wood burning stove?

Rideable to me is normal UP conditions at Xmas. Not looking for carbide and hyfax burner conditions but the inquiry was intended to see where the snow fell and locate hope for future sledding in Big Snow area. I didn’t expect much but never know where a deep pocket of LES might have fallen...

Often times Rhinelander weather would draw a line at Rt 70 for LES. Rt 70 edges north from ER east and leaving 70 straight north on 2096 LES accumulations would increase with every mile. Kind of neat to see it. Imo Spectacle Lake on average would have about 20 more inches of snow accumulation...

Idk I was on Spectacle Lake maybe 8 miles SE of Phelps and we had a lot more snow than ER or Rhinelander. Temps were often colder than Rhinelander and the melt took a lot longer. Yes we were on the edge of LES more like Conover than ER or Rhinelander. Dfattack often started sledding from my...

Did most of my riding in the UP from Phelps bunch of unplowed FRs that dump you out on trail 2 half way between Watersmeet and iron River or stay in The FRs and ride.
