You would have much better conditions in Munising and to the east/northeast of there. Twin Lakes has great snow, but north of Calumet is almost unrideable and same with Ontonogan area, so you’d be pretty locked into riding trail 3 unfortunately. South boundary rd up to the porkies is alright...

I stayed in Munising this weekend, trails were great yesterday around Munising, did the trail 7/8 loop. I rode from Seney up to Grand Marais on Saturday as well. Little choppy with the traffic but tons of snow. If you’re riding mid week you’ll be in for a treat!

Not too new of a sled then, all the pre gen 4 sleds were located there. Agreed, it’s not the funnest.

Plenty of ditch line there to run a groomed trail. A pure shame. There is a few rental properties along H58 there, so regardless there is sleds running everywhere up and down there. Hate to assume, but have a hunch the first few massive houses on miners castle rd may have played a part in this.

On a gen 4 or 5?? Those are insanely easy. They’re under the seat. Couple minute job.

On a side note I did see two Poo 8Fiddys getting towed this weekend :D

Up here again. Holy man, what a zoo! Had to have been 200+ sleds in town in grand Marais today. Will give a detailed report when I get back.

13 from Greenland to Twin Lakes is closed due to a bridge being out from storms a couple years ago. There is currently a bridge on trail 3 not deemed strong enough to hold up the groomer, so there is a small few mile reroute around it, that uses a very small portion of the original trail 13...

Yeah, unfortunately looking like I will have to relocate my January 25 weekend trip from Boulder Junction into the UP LES belt…

There was still people riding grand Marais and Seney area yesterday surprisingly. With the incoming snow I think that area will be ok.

I hear ya. Sure do miss his insight. This graphic is from Midwest weather on Facebook. I am slightly concerned, that the GFS and Euro models aren’t picking up much yet, whereas the 2 large LES events earlier this month did.

This is all lake effect. Most weather stations or apps refuse to forecast it until a day or so before it starts. Keep in mind this is accumulative across a 5 day span.

But but but, LES possible later next week! Better work fast!
