Actual sled weights.....wet as we ride them

I forgot to add that Yami list the sidewinder at 587lbs. dry. Wet weight was 667lbs. so that's 80lbs. for fluids. Looks right to me.

Actual sled weights.....wet as we ride them

Yami list it as a 9-gallon tank, but I can squeeze 9.8-9.9 with burps. Interesting AC list it as a 10-gallon tank.

Actual sled weights.....wet as we ride them

Correct...Doo is lying about the sleds dry weight. Not rocket science here. It adds up pretty simple for me. Wet weight minus listed dry weight equals difference of added fluids. What doesn't add up is what the manufacturer list as dry weight. So, if you subtract the fluid weight, let's say...

Actual sled weights.....wet as we ride them

In reality "listed" dry weights are for selling product. It's the same with dream meters, just because your speedo said you were going 120 doesn't mean you were actually going 120. I think Doo is a little off on their dry weights, ok a lot. The scale doesn't lie and you're reaching with the ski...

Actual sled weights.....wet as we ride them

Snowtrax just released a video of sled weights (not every sled). A lot of the very popular models, it was interesting to say the least.

    They're Big & They're Out There

Daily life in my neck of the woods err fields. I'm in rural Northern Ohio and they are everywhere. I treat them the same way I treat a school bus, lots and lots of space.

2024 Yamaha. Is it going to happen?

That would be correct. It is preset valving not infinite. Switches to different size orifices controlling oil flow for compression.

They are Fox QS3 shocks, coil over with rezi cans filled with oil and nitrogen. Allows rider to adjust compression while riding.

2024 Yamaha. Is it going to happen?

It's an I-active system. You have 3 settings to choose from for compression, soft, medium and hard from the factory. It also allows the rider to have their own custom settings as well. Your setting is displayed on the cluster. Like I said not as advanced as Doo's closed loop system but still a...

Sleepy River bridge on trail 13 washed away!

Rode the Keweenaw this past season for first time since the late 90's. Recently discussed our ride with my group and everyone agreed no reason to ever go back. With the loss of all the loops it made it pretty boring riding trail 3 for miles on end. We have 3 youngsters in their late twenties...

2024 Yamaha. Is it going to happen?

Ac and Yami have had that combination since MY22. Granted their smart shocks are not as advanced as Doo's but still adjustable on the fly on the handle bars. Guys that have that combo rave about it.

Sleepy River bridge on trail 13 washed away!

The U.P. Superior Snowmobile Club posted pictures on their Facebook page of the wash out of this bridge on trail 13 between Twin Lakes and Greenland. Love this trail, hopefully repairs can be made to allow this section of 13 to open for the 23/24 season.

2024 Yamaha. Is it going to happen?

Over on TY it seemed as if everyone who tried to place an order was denied. When they went to put in payment they were locked out and sent an email about being put on a waiting list. I'm not sure about this and could be wrong but, didn't Canada open up MY24 ordering a couple of days earlier than...

2024 Yamaha. Is it going to happen?

Really...Wow! I have never owned another brand only Yamaha. In reality my 2 current sleds are Arctic Cats with Yamaha power plants. Do I want to see Yamaha exit the sled market? Not a chance but, I also don't see them staying for the long haul either.

2024 Yamaha. Is it going to happen?

I agree 100%. I struggled out of the gate with the SRX, it was either planting the nose hard on decel or the skis were in the air. Not fun with either scenario. I would make some changes like stiffer center spring and adding more compression on the front skis which helped handling but...

2024 Yamaha. Is it going to happen?

Here are a couple for ya, Polaris Boost VR1 estimated dry weight from the OEM 501 LBS and Doo's 900R estimated dry weight from the OEM 519 LBS. In the 4 stroke platforms the Yami SRX is 40 LBS more than a Doo 900 R, both dry weights from the OEM. In my opinion weight of a sled is not a concern.

2024 Yamaha. Is it going to happen?

Not anymore than any other 4 stroke motor, besides where I'm from we ride our sleds, we don't carry them. Heck even 2 strokes are now approaching 500 lbs. or more.

There's a Bobcat in my Car

I've seen the bobcat's cousin the lynx in Canada a couple of times and a couple of bobcats in PA while spot lighting for deer but never one during the daylight. What a cool little animal they are.
