1997 polaris ultra

Anybody know of any issues with the 1997 polaris Ultra 700? My son is determined to buy one with 3400 miles and a new track for $900. I am a Cat person so have no knowledge of the ultra 700. Any info would be appreiciated.

other than being a little heavy, this sled rocks! I had the aggresive style and once I dialed in the jetting, that is one good running engine!they are rich from the factory!

I have known of a few 680s were the crank gets tweaked and out of index. u can usually feel a slight vibration and aluminum mount bars start cracking! also this sled when warmed up should start with a snap of the wrist on the rewind rope ! pipes really help the 680!!

That sled will not beat that ultra. That is if the ultra is running right.

For $900 I don't think you can go wrong. Take the suspension out and check all the wheels and the shocks. Change the fuel filter and clean the carbs. Basic maintenance stuff. Check the chain. Those are the main issues I'm familar with.

Haha no way My sled weighs 460 lbs compared to what, 550? I got mine regeared, rejetted, clutch kit, new track (1.25 ripsaw)

Buy it and go through it. A good basic sled to ride and learn how things work.
That was a good triple no matter what some say.

why triples rock who doesnt love the wicked power band of a well tuned triple? I have had ultra/ thunder/ zrt/sxr/ was actually considering looking for a thunder to run around the house.that ultra will blow motor mount brackets on occasion and the clutch on it is prob close to the end of its life if has not been maintained.

blow up too much and very costly to fix.

maby for the first 100ft then it is all over but the crying.most triple guys were running notched weights so if that is the case not even off the line.
