Had a lot of love for American cars, muscle, luxury and all. I worked at a GM dealer as a kid and drove all muscle cars, plus the dad employed at local GM dealer for 35 years in management. It was totally shocking to me the difference in quality between what I WAS driving, and the 1st Jap car I bought, an 1986 Accord. Do you know how often I've been back to a dealer with a quality problem on Acura's or Honda's since I switched in 1990? I can count on 1 or 2 fingers. That Corvette bought brand new had some weird computer problem where it wouldn't start when it got hot. Totally intermittent - 3 dealers and none could figure it out. So I'd be left stranded for up to an hour or more until the computer reset the system, but it only happened once ever 4-5 times I drove it. Maddening. I considered buying a GMC Terrain about 3 yrs ago, but when i took the test drive at dealer in Burlington, the car wouldn't go over 35 because the check engine light came on and the rev limiter kicked in. Salesmen sitting next to me - "oh, that's a common thing, not to worry, when can correct it". 10 miles on the car and already problems. I'd never, ever buy American again under any circumstance. Or an AC - but that's another story.
Good luck with your problem, I meant no offense, just trying the empathize, as I know how you feel.
