2012 snowmobiles

Who's gonna take a chance on a first year model from Poo considering their past history?

I said the same think but I was a first year buyer with my rush an I cant complain.. I have seen many 800 rushes out this year too. But I know where you are coming from. I think we need to all get off our high horses and realize Polaris will not be releasing a rush 4 stroke anytime soon. If they do well shame on them! They need to get there **** together with their 6 an 8 motors before they go and do something as stupid as putting that to the side to put a 4 stroke in that chassis. Am I saying its a horrible idea? No Im just not one that gets all hyped up about 4 strokes I am a 2 stroke guy an love them. WHat I am sayin is poo has to get there heads outa there rears and start figuring some things out.

what's wrong with their 6 and 8 motors? as long as you don't put a can on it you'll be fine ;)

Seeing that Polaris was compelled to relocate it's engine production from Osceola to somewhere in Mexico, I find it hard to believe anybodies going to feel very confident when they go to grab the load button.

In Mexico on business as I type---anyone who thinks you will get the same engine quality out of here as you will out of a USA plant is just plain crazy. Expect a long learning curve on this one.

Once again, that's only ATV's. Sleds returned to Minnesota.

This link is the actual press release from Polaris regarding the move.
http://www.polarisindustries.com/en.../PolarisToRealignManufacturingOperations.aspx

This link identifies where the Victory engine production is going.
http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/4/699...-Moving-Engine-Production-to-Spirit-Lake.aspx

I wasn't able to find anything specific as to where the actual snowmobile engine production was going to take place. I believe that very few snowmobile engine components were actually manufactured at the Osceola location, I think Osceola was mostly a assembly plant but I could easily be wrong. I have no idea whether the Osceola plant was doing the castings and millings for the cylinders, crankcases, pistons and heads or whether they were actually stamping the cranks. I'm also making the assumption that all of the fuel delivery and electrical components were manufactured by others as well.

So Indy,....what inside information do you have that would definitively place the manufacturing and assembly of the snowmobile engines in Roseau?

Polaris has proudly advertised "Made in the USA" on thier equipment for years. I own a 1995 XLT Special that has the "Made in the USA" badge on the hood and right underneath the hood lies a 597 cc three cylinder Fuji engine with 3 Mukuni carbs.

The second link actually identifies that the Victory engine assembly will be moving to Spirit Lake, IA. However, I've (as I stated above) been unable to find a single thing specifically identifying how or where Polaris intends to manufacture and assemble it's snowmobile engines.

To that end, Wine said the firm intends to "enhance" its Roseau, Minn. and Spirit Lake, Iowa, facilities. Without giving many details he indicated that Roseau will continue to focus on snowmobile production, with snowmobile engine assembly moving there, while motorcycle engine assembly would move to Spirit Lake, where Victory motorcycles are made.

Favoritos,

Nice job. That's the first reference I've read specific to the snowmobile engine assembly.

That press release is kind of funny. Right next to Polaris' catch-phrase "The Way Out", it details how Polaris is moving its production of certain engines to Mexico.

I can't remember where, but I read somewhere else that those Liberty engines have quite of few FUJI parts anyway. Still more American than Yamaha I guess.

I read on a press release they moved the engine plant back to minnesota.

What press release did you read? This was the only one I was aware of:

http://www.polarisindustries.com/en.../PolarisToRealignManufacturingOperations.aspx.

And I couldn't find a thing specific to snowmobile engines in the official Polaris Industry press release.

The article written by Mark Savage of in American Snowmobiler:

http://cs.amsnow.com/snocs/blogs/news/archive/2010/05/21/polaris-to-phase-out-u-s-engine-plant.aspx

Does say that Scott Wine indicated that the snowmobile engine assembly was moving to Roseau. A lot of times there is significant difference to the validity of an official press release and an article composed by a writer. The writer of the article quoted certain things that Wine said but only refer to an indication of the snowmobile engine assembly being moved to Roseau.

The way this particular post reads, it appears as though you're providing information that bears a sturdier foundation then hearsay.

Fine, then don't believe me. Just sayin' what i know, if this was false info, i'd probably not be posting it on this site. Sure i may not have the facts to back it up but i don't carry around URL links in my back pocket. Post sounded a lil harsh but that's the only way i can think of wording it.

Question for the polaris guys, my co-worker just picked up a brand new (2010) 600 Rush for his son serving in Iraq, he will be home in February to ride it! Is there anything he should worry about or plan to do to it? How is the mileage on this thing? I assume it is the proven 600 Liberty engine?

Thank you!
