The vectors are very nice...but I'm with you...I love my Attak..the more I ride it the better I like it...plan on keeping it for awhile. I still have a bit of darting with the curve xs skis...gotta adjust my toe out yet (haven't had time)....but they do carve corners really well..nice skis.

I have no reason to buy a new one..not for a couple years..maybe by then I
won't care to have 150 hp....not now though...lol

yeah buy then you will want 180hp at what point in your life have u said yeah I think I want the under powerd one much more fun not to have to worry about all that uneeded torque

180hp??? How about 220 hp...with the price of these new sleds, and what I paid for my attak used...I'd come out ahead putting a supercharger on it.
Who needs power steering if the skis never touch the ground...lmao

they will. they are all going to have it one day. Look at the ATV's. The difference on the sleds is beneficial too. I have a 2011 Apex XTX and anyone who rides it thinks the same thing...WOW.

Yamaha

Well I think they missed the mark on the vector..... Should have put the EXUP exhaust and what ever other tweeks they gave the Apex motor in 11 that gave it that +14-15 HP kick.... It's not all about the power steering......JMO

Website

Look at the pictures read the specs, get pricing... point & click pretty darn easy if you ask me. New sleds are marked "New" how much easier can it get to compare to 2011s & highlight new tech? Only took me a few minutes to scope vids & to get my head around what is new.

I do agree there is good information - however, being a Cat guy, I have no idea what the new chassis offers, only that they have a new chassis. Watch AC's website on their release and I guarantee that one of the first things you come across is the benefits of the new chassis and why you should buy it. Yamaha isn't going to convert anyone with their website, the way that the other three could, until you get three or four clicks into a model. They have awesome functionality at that level, with the Flash and videos, but this is what should be found on the home page IMO.

That's all from me, I'm a web developer so it bugs me a little - ok, a lot - when a company that size doesn't take the time to do things right ;)

I figured you had a background in software since you were more concerned about website construction than new Yams. I'm on Wild Blue not by choice the only service I can get in my area so I'm very slow compared to the rest of you internet speed demons. So I don't want unnecessary bandwidth fluff just want to get info & get out but if I had higher speed broadband the fluff would be nice no penalty. There also may be JDers still on dial up that visit JD due to cost or availability.

So what is really new other than some skis and the Vector gets some hand-me-downs from the Apex?

On the other hand, no changes = good resale prices for the used machines.

From what I can tell Vector 121 & 136 now in new D3 platform has EPS & engine braking reduction along with other goodies. Dig deeper Flash and videos tell all quickly on complete 2012 line up. Yam used always hold good resale if in good shape.

What's Deltabox 2 vs. Deltabox 3? I know they are different chassis, but what's the difference? I thought the 2011 vector was in the same chassis as the Apex? Is this kind of like what Polaris used to do before the IQ chassis, where they would come out with a new chassis every few years but it looked exactly the same?

Apex changed to new chassis in 2011 but wanted to maintain simular look to old Apex because Yam customers liked it & wanted to appeal to their core customers. 2011 transition from sitting to standing is much easier & 2" higher than old Apex with longer spread to 128 & 144 tipped. Yam not clear on D2 & D3 on website but I do know 2011 Apex on new chassis was 128 & 144 tipped 2012 Vector 121 & 136. With all the attention on EPS the new 2011 Apex chassis got lost in the wind. To me Yam marketing screwed up big time in 2011 asking Mags to comment on what you just rode without detailing tech changes & probably why public does not know 2011 Apex is all new platform. To me this caused too much confusion & is still happening.

I was on a "discussion test panel" back before EPS was introduced. There were about 16 sledders all sitting around talking about sleds, when the moderator asked who would be interested in Power Steering....

Not a single person raised their hands. When asked why....Most felt that it would add unnecessary weight, and would simply be one more high tech gadget to go haywire.

When I get to be 80....I will consider one....so I don't have to work so hard to ride my rocket V8 with 15 inch wide skis that are retractable on my 175 pound sled.

Hey...it could happen...!
