The sleds in my opinion are coming to a point where they are at their pinnacle, much like a dirtbike or ATV. A 1988 honda 250r is still as good or better than a 2015 honda 450R. I dont see many ground breaking "REV" type chassis happening again. The biggest game changer will probably come in way of a more efficient drive train. And also engines will keep getting better and better. If your hoping artic cat reinvents the wheel, i think you maybe disapointed.

Not looking for world changing release, but I would like better headlights.... that's really it.....I am happy with the current lineup, and the older I get, the less "Brrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaappppppp" I need..... I guess gas mileage increase would be cool.

Yep I agree all OEMs 2015/2016 line ups are pretty darn good. Doo still lacks 150hp+ 4s but everything else covered... poo all 2s so has 4s holes but good 2s line up, Yamaha improved most of their line up so cat remains. Where do we go from here? Poo could have new 4s platform if choose to enter that market. Yamaha maybe positioning to offer new Apex 4s platform in the next 2 years as threw bunch of money at Vector this year & that is solid market but 2nd fiddle to Apex. Viper keeps on keeping on but who knows in 2 years & no interest to me. Cat no idea what happens here either split with Yamaha or gets absorbed also can a shrinking market support 4 OEMS?

I agree too that all 4 OEM's are pretty good, but I think sleds will continue to improve. I remember years ago when long travel suspensions came out people were saying the same thing. I just don't see us riding a sled 30 years from now and it being no better than what we have today, per the Honda example.

im not saying they wont be better and most people dont kno what a 250r is or 450r or 400ex. But the chassis is nearly identical almost 30 years later, was my point. There will always be improvements epecially in the engines and suspensions. But the chassis are near perfection. its unreal how good these sleds handle the bumps.im sure new stuff will come out but i just dont see a whole new game changer in terms of chassis. But i hope im wrong.

That all 4 are where they are at same time & place is interesting. Poos no 4s, Yammah no 2s, Doo no 150hp 4s ,AC a bit of everything allows niche markets to exist that all 4 together serve as a whole...lol... I get what momoney is saying & don't think he meant no improvements in coming years but if an OEM is going to retool production for a new platform it better be darn good! Some say nothing new at Yamaha since RX1ton they don't see changes to Apex 1 & 2 & the same can be said about Doo Rev 2003 thru 2016 & some recognition to the notion although I don't agree.

Somebody will build a hover-sled with a 400 HP 3 stroke. It will have sensors that will prevent it from ever hitting another sled or fixed object. Instead of GPS it will just have a keyboard that you just punch in your destination.

You can make a 1200 more than 150 hp with 1 phone call and very minor mods. It reallly wakes the 1200 up and lets her spin much higher rpms. These mods have been proven to work and work well. A header, ecu reflash, and a pb80. Have you ridden an rmotion 1200 for any amount of time?

A few weeks back all the discussion was that Doo was going to release all this pent-up technology they had but were sitting on since they were so far ahead of everyone else. Now that the Doo's groundbreaking tech was a snowboard hitch to take your best buddy up a hill and also the new tuner skis, the story is that sled design must be at the pinnacle.

Seems like Yamaha released quite a bit of changes. For me personally I was hoping they would put something out with a seating position more similar to the others. I know they have the Viper that does that, but I'd prefer one that is all Yamaha. Still I think a new engine and new skid shows they are staying in the game.

Be interesting if Cat has a new 800 this year or, even better in my view, a 2 stroke that is price competitive with the Indy and the Doo Sport.

momoney we are talking 2016 product lines & Doo does NOT have 150hp 4s mass produced product plain & simple. The 1200 stops at 130ish hp is what it is out of the box & that is not 150+ hp...lol...Yes aftermarket can do a lot for all brands but still not part of their product line or warranty. Yes I have ridden a GSX with the air not rmotion but talking 150hp not suspensions & rmotion not going to get me or anybody to 150+ hp stock. I'm talking to area Doo dealers regarding 2016 product line & they are disappointed as well with the lack of the big hp 4s. 150hp + 4s competely different market & power band than the 800etec so not a lot of crossover of those markets... some ...but not much when additional weight of 4s is considered. Doo just doesn't have it this year thus a market void that Cat & Yamaha fill off the shelf also no Mach 2s or 4s....don't know why but not available in 2016.

haha ur right it doesnt make 150 stock, never said it did. Butttt if u can turn a wrench you can get 150+. Was just an idea as its a proven setup since 09 for the guys who want sum more power outa the 1200, thats all. if the dealer is worth a rip haha it doesn't effect warranty. And in my opinion the air ride is nice, but its not like the rmotion at all, especially when it gets bumpy.

I wish there was a mach, but seems skidoo is out of that market. I guess they prooved theres no money it it or dont believe there is. Would love to see the # of cat turbos and apexs sold vs 1200s, that would be interesting as i have no idea. The 800etec is the cash cow big hp sled for them. But I wish they boosted the 1200 theres also a ton of stage 1s with 220hp running around pump gas so getting 180 out of them would be pretty easy. 3lbs of boost all it would need. Pretty mellow.

Well I can see the yellow pompoms are in full glory tonight ..lol... I'm just so sure every doo dealer is going to warranty a 1200 with aftermarket set ups that increase the 1200 at 20+hp. Can you say "NOT" Doo would not warranty a bone stock 800 with flaking rings & bad crank seal for me ...Thank you for waking me up I may have been getting too comfortable with Doo for my own good. I do need to remember how bad Valcourt treated me & why I went to Yamaha in 2007 and said buh bye to Doo after 10 years & buying 2 sleds every 2 years or so. Actually has been all good with Yamaha going on 9 years now...thanks for the reminder.
